Doubts from an International future applicant

Hi everyone. This september I'll apply to MIT as an International. Let me explain my whole situation: when I had to choose my high school I wanted to join one in which I could study programming, but my parents and relatives denied and sent me into a lyceum, thinking this school would give me a better preparation for university or general future studies. So I didn't appreciate the school and I studied only a bit, just to pass the year with an anonymous profile. By the way I've been really involved in kayak for the first 2 years, getting some regional medal and partecipating at national competiotions. Then I've been involved in music, and I'm actually making a music project, and last January I decided to start learning programming on my own, and this summer I've also started learning electronics. So, due to these interests, I discovered MIT while searching for a good school to join after my actual one.

Do you think my situation could hurt my chances?
