Douglas Hall v La Citadelle

Please help me choose between these two rezs. Also I have a few questions

  • Do I get to use my meal plan in any cafeteria I want? Or are there restrictions?
  • What exactly are "flex dollars"?
  • If you've attended McGill, how's the food in the residences, how are the cafeteria open times
  • Is Douglas Hall located on campus? Of not, how far away. And how far away is La Citadelle
  • Apparently Douglas Hall is close to the main gym, what about La Citadelle?
  • I dont want to go to New Rez because of "rich kids stereotype". Is this the same for La Citadelle?
  • How is the community at La Citadelle? Do people hang out alot?
  • Hows the party scene? Drugs, alcohol, smoking...which one has less?

@ARandomGuyyy, you must be one of the lucky ones hat has scholarship, so you get to choose? This should be helpful. I don’t understand how the residences have a similar profile each year when they have all new students every year. That is curious to me.

  1. You can use your meal plan at any cafeteria located in rez.
  2. flex dollars are dollars which are part of your meal plan, but instead of being spent at the cafeterias, they can be spent at places like quesada and subway.
  3. food is mediocre. RVC has the best food. https://www.mcgill.ca/foodservices/locations/hours-service
  4. No rez is located on campus. Douglas is upper rez so you have to walk up the hill. La Cit is located on Sherbrooke about 5 minutes from campus. La Cit has a much better location.
5)La Citadelle is like a 5-10 minute walk from the gym.
  5. I think La Cit has more rich kids, it is the most expensive dorm.
  6. The Community at La Cit is pretty good. It also depends on the floor fellow’s ability to create a good community. If they have a lot of floor teas/activities plays a big role in forming the community.
  7. Party scene is ok. La Cit isn’t really known for parties. Every Rez will have drugs, alcohol, and smoking. La Cit would throw parties every once in a while with free alcohol and stuff. But if you’re looking for a quieter dorm I think La Cit might be quieter. I think Upper Rez (Douglas, Gardner, Molson, and McConnell has more parties), not sure though I’ve never been up there.
