Douglass Residential College and Global Village

Can anyone here share their experience with DRC and more specifically the Global Village? My daughter is applying to transfer to Rutgers for the fall of 2020 from a small college and thought that Douglass might be an easier way to transition into a large university. We were able to visit the campus over a weekend this month and there was no sign of life. We passed no more than 4 people - it was very strange. Student center looked empty, beautiful day and no one outside. This now has her second guessing whether it would be a good pick. She was interested in the Global Village thinking that it would be a good way to meet people as a transfer student. We walked past the Global Village dorms and didn’t see one person. We stopped first on College Ave so expected a more quiet scene at Douglass and she’s ok with a quiet scene with the ability to access more action on other campuses, but this was beyond anything we expected and now she has cold feet. Thanks for any info or experience

I didn’t live on Douglass but am a part of the DRC program. Douglass is usually very quiet but I would say when I go to the student center there are many people there as there are a lot of food options. But usually when I go there it’s around lunch time. When I go to the study lounges/library, it’s usually packed on a Friday afternoon.
