Douglass Residential College

NJ had never crossed my thoughts but I recently received an email from Douglass saying that I would probably be a good fit. All I know is that it is an all-girls program (though still within the University)--and it is at the New Brunswick campus right?

I honestly don't mind all girls programs, I went to British Boarding/Finishing school for my whole elementary/most of jr. high career and I really enjoyed it. But since I am also applying to other institutions along the line (i.e Barnard, Wellesley, etc), I figured why not check this out?

I would appreciate it if anyone could give me more info.
Thank you :)

Douglass Residential College is a campus living unit with extra programing and support services. Almost all classes are taken with other Rutgers University students taught by the same faculty in co-ed classes on all the campuses of Rutgers-New Brunswick. There are some extra scholarships available, and many women enjoy the the special comraderie of Douglass and its traditions. Contact them directly to find out more.

Thank you Lorelei! What you said came in handy when I was browsing their application and did not see Douglass as an actual school--it makes sense!

Yes, you would be a student enrolled at Rutgers University, in a College or School, like the School of Pharmacy or School of Arts and Sciences or Engineering, etc. You have to be accepted by the academic unit, and your qualifications, grades, scores, talents, etc. will determine your success. Good luck.

D also received an email about Douglas' Residential College Open House.

We are already signed up for the College Tour at Busch campus in November. Is the Douglas Open House just an extention of that? Should we go to both? This is what the email said:

You and your family are cordially invited to join us for our annual fall open house for prospective students. This year’s event, “College Day – A Focus on Women’s Success at Rutgers University,” will provide you with a wealth of information about Rutgers University and opportunities for women. Your visit will include:

An information session about Rutgers University undergraduate schools and Douglass Residential College
A walking tour of the Douglass Campus
Lunch with students, faculty and administrators
A student services and activities fair

Can't imagine that the Busch tour and Douglass Open House are related. The two campuses are quite a distance from each other.

If your daughter is interested in Douglass, I'd suggest attending the Open House. Depending on the schedule, you might also squeeze in a tour of Busch on the same day (I can't imagine it taking more than an hour).

The Douglas tour is on 10/11; Busch is on 11/2.

If you take the Busch tour, do they also give you a dorm tour?

Yes, you get a dorm tour with the Busch tour.
