Downloaded vs. Submitted for Recommenders?

I was just looking at my recommender pages and realized that some of them say downloaded and some say submitted. For example, one college has both recommenders submitted and another college has them both downloaded. Is this just different terminology or does downloaded mean it is not complete?

It means that when the letter is submitted to the Common App by your teacher, it is “Submitted”, and when the university downloads it from the Common App, it is “Downloaded”

I have letters that say submitted but the college has them…not sure how it all works but I checked with the colleges and they have the letters

Don’t trust the CA dashboard. My D also has a supplement said downloaded and yet the school did not have it. Follow up your application at the school portal. That is all it counts.

@billcho how do I get to the school portal?

Did you get a confirmation e-mail from school? Look if they have sent you any instruction. Some school has that information on their admission website instead.

No I haven’t gotten any confirmation emails from the schools themselves, only from the common app.

Some schools may take a week or longer to send your the confirmation.

I submitted my applications 4 weeks ago and I am just starting to get emails from colleges on how to check status.

if i have not submitted my application yet and the status for the recommendation letter says “started,” what does that mean? did the teacher complete it and i just have to submit?

I’m pretty sure that means the recommender hasn’t submitted your rec yet. but you can submit your app before your recs are submitted.

she said she filled out all the forms for it. what should i tell her her in order to for it to say submitted

okay so what if I submit the app right before Nov 1? does that I miss the dead line? because the schools will get it after Nov 1??!

My D dashboard says recommendations and school report submitted. The schools have the application but no recommendations or school report. This stuff was submitted a week ago. Now what do we do?

It simply means the school has not downloaded it. Just be patience. It may take more than a week or two.

I have contacted the schools and they say they have application but not the rest. One school got everything 2 didnt

Even after the school downloading it, it may take another week for them to put into file and update their database.
