When colleges look at your grades from freshman year to senior, do they expect/account for a downward trend in grades? Because shouldn't your senior year courses be much much harder than those you took in freshman or sophomore year? Because I know that my grades are definitely going to be worse this year, but in terms of WEIGHTED gpa, my gpa is about the same for all years....it might even be slightly higher this year because of the AP's I'm taking. I'm just worried because I know colleges like to see upward trends in grades, but there's not much room for improvement when you already have straight A's

Some responses would be cool…

A B or two won’t be considered a downward trend.

Do know, however, that your weighted GPA is not considered by colleges. They will use your UW GPA and consider it in the context of your course rigor. The exact number of the weighted GPA won’t matter, so telling us that your weighted GPA has stayed about the same isn’t particularly valuable information.

Each college re-calculates your GPA. Unless you are failing classes I would not worry. Just that you are taking a competitive course-load senior year is a good sign.

Would it be better for me to put my unweighted or weighted GPA on the common app? I know there is HUGE variation in the way schools weight stuff. Mine does 4.0 for non-honors, 4.4 honors, 4.44 gifted and 4.48 AP.

I suppose I should put unweighted. Meh. The colleges will see my courseload in my actual transcript anyways.

Literally every single semester of high school up until now, I’ve had 3 A’s and 1 -A, so I’m guessing my unweighted has been really consistent too, even with harder classes each year. My school doesnt really report unweighted but that can probably be easily calculated anyways. But by the looks of it, I think Im going to get 1 or 2 B’s this year in AP stats and maybe ap calc…I’m pretty much crapping my pants

I put W on the Common App because that is how my rank is calculated. However, both UW and W are listed on my transcript.

Either is fine. Your transcript will be the main source of information for adcom’s anyway.

lol, I promise one or two B’s won’t kill you (physically or in terms of admissions).
