All they have to do is watch "Saving Private Ryan"---all is explained there.

The port deal? I was referring to Iraq.

I will have to work on a definition for FUBARed that is appropriate for the forum.

First off, I am not sure the past tense is appropriate; the situation "is" FUBAR not "was" FUBARed as in the past tense. Furthermore, the acronym most likely stands by itself as in "situation FUBAR" not "situation FUBARed". Hmmmm. . . have to think about this one. Paraphrasing the great Yoda: Perhaps to this one there is no answer. You either know it or you don't . . . similar to pornography.

By the way: Where is Jamzmo? Still at the shogun wedding? Wanna bet that situation was [is] FUBAR?

By the way, what was the little guy in WWII that was "here." Not Elmo; Not Satchmo; Not O'Reilly; Not Gizmo . . .

KILROY, baby.

KILROY WAS HERE

Bill! You cannot put weddings together with that word!!! That is just not right. Maybe correct, but not right.
I am sure we will hear all from Jamzmom (in another thread) when she is good and ready. Then civility and good manners will return to CC.

Ahhh. . . then we'll just get back to talking about the color of the wedding dress.

Back to tenses [and we need an English major here]. If used as a verb, the operative verb would be in the past tense as in FedUBAR then maybe it should be "was." On the other hand if considered a noun, perhaps it could be "is" FedBUBAR; or is this simply the use of a transitive verb [which I don't even really remember the specifics of.] In no case, however, is the "ed" applied to the "R."

Okay, that is all about that.

Now . . . what about the consistency of Republican ideology: "We will do WHATEVER it takes to continue being elected." [As would the Democrats.] The party [at least the Bush administration] is initially against a 9/11 commission that might actually come up with ideas that further security; the party [at least the administration] has done nothing to implement the civil rights board called for by the commission; failed to implement many of the port security deficiencies recognized by the Comission; and failed to secure cargo shipments both in the air and at sea; but, when it comes to something that probably has no effect on security [DP taking over the ports] well. . . .lets just jump on that one because it sells well to the public. Amazing.

It's another great day in America! KILROY is, indeed, here and I think he is in the White House or at least in the Congress.

HA! FUBAR FUBAR FUBAR! I lived through it! The dress was very tasteful BTW.

I've been outta the loop. So.... What a show Washington is putting on huh? This may be better than watching 24. No worries though. I've gone up to Washington & have advised them that we, CC Inc, will be taking over what is now the undercover company not known to the public except as "American Entity". They are thinking it over & will get back to us. I think we'd do a FAB job with it! This deal seems more & more shady by the day.

Ok Bill. Here's what you said... "You either know it or you don't . . . similar to pornography." THEN YOU SAY.......

"By the way: Where is Jamzmo?" Good Golly man! It was only ten in the morning! Lay off the scotch atleast until noon!! You're gonna give me a bad name!!

I'm Baaaaaa-aaack! ;)

I am an English teacher. According to my understanding of FUBAR, the word for which F stands is already in the -ed past participle form. So a situation in the present is FUBAR or in the past it was FUBAR, analogously to saying that something is or was damaged Beyond All (possible) Repair. It should now be clear to everyone what the first two letters of the acronym stand for and how the grammar works.

Long live CC the new "American Entity"!

Sister Mary Pyewacket! I remember her.
