Dr. Sullivan reinstated!!!

Just got a message from UVa website the BOV voted to reinstate Dr. Sullivan.

It seem the BOV finally got it together. I am surprised she went back after the insult but I am happy things turned around.

Read all about it!

Odd that Dragas seems to be keeping her position.

Yeah Dragon, I mean Dragas seems to have managed to get the PC vote. Not that she deserves it IMO.

But lets stay on the positive side. A good thing has happened so lets focus on that.

The debacle made half of the board look like bumbling fools. It made everyone else be reunited and organized to reclaim their University from confused coup-leaders. Sullivan’s new speech after reinstatement is on youtube look up President Sullivan Addresses Supporters on the Lawn

I am happy that Dr. Sullivan showed dignity and honor during this debacle. Although I never met her personally she stood by me during a medical leave I had to take after an accident. The Dean of Students told my parents that the first words out of her mouth during a holiday party for university staff was to ask about me. On Christmas morning she wrote me an email to check in on my medical progress and make sure I had everything I needed. I will always be grateful to her for her kindness. I don’t appreciate her being treated poorly. I intend to write to her to congratulate her and applaude her dignity in the face of adversity. She is a class act. We are lucky to have her.

Sorry to hear about your accident, vistany, but such a nice story about Dr. Sullivan.
Hope you’re doing fine now!

Hooray for another old friend popping by the forum! Good to see you here, G! I hope you are well!

Thanks Dean J. I will write directly but here is the bottom line.

Remembering the purple shadows of the lawn, the majesty of the colonnades, and the dream of your youth, you may say in reverence and thankfulness:

“I have worn the honors of Honor, I graduated from Virginia”

…on time :)

Get out! happy dance

The PR guys tried to claim that the UVa Uprising (or the UVa Spring) would be divisive. Instead, it united everyone more than ever, and re-activated the enthusiam of some alums.

@charlieschm, do you have a link for donations? I would like to do that.

Most people who are donating in honor of Pres. Sullivan are donating to the President’s fund. This fund is allowed to be used by the President of the U. as she deems fit, such as offering additional compensation to key faculty who may otherwise leave.

Many people have also been donating to AccessUVa, which meets the full proven financial need of all UVa undergrads who are US students. There also are options to donate to particular schools, the libraries, etc.

One of the ratings criteria used by US News is the % of alums who donate each year. UVa is high for a public college, but loses points compared to many private colleges. Even a small contribution would help in this regard.
