Dr. Witt's Address to Spring Faculty/Staff Meeting

I never saw the numbers for last fall.

http://oira.ua.edu/d/sites/all/files/reports11/1011_cds.pdf</a></p>

yeah, when I click on this, it only provides limited data

I think whoever posted this to the site, made an error of some sort, for this link only discusses Financial aid for 2010-2011.

http://oira.ua.edu/d/sites/all/files/reports10/0910_factbook/0910_p23.pdf</a> for 2009-2010 info about acceptance rate. I don’t remember where I saw it, but I know the acceptance rate for last fall was down to 54 per cent.

I don’t know why the Factbook for the year 2010-11 is not available. It is usually available by spring. That would give us the data for last fall’s incoming frosh class and the student body at large.

http://oira.ua.edu/d/sites/all/files/reports11/1011_cds_new.pdf</a></p>

^^^

thanks! But that’s the Common Data Set (which is still great info).

I’m still looking for the Factbook 2010-11 …it is usually up by now. It includes info about incoming frosh, honors programs, etc.

I was about to ask if anybody knew where the 2010-2011 Factbook was? Atl, can you email your contact and ask him why it isn’t updated yet?

I emailed him, so I will post a link as soon as I hear back from him.

I think that UA should consider handing off responsibility for marketing to some of us. lol

Does anyone know if the administration is even aware of this potential recruitment tool? One would think they could learn a lot from the posts from prospective students and their parents. Of course, UA is doing pretty well in recruiting on its own, but I am still curious how much attention they give this site.

Thanks…for some odd reason, that entire page isn’t loading…even for past links.

I believe they do…the link to the Factbook is highlighted on the “About UA” page.

^^^
what do you mean? Is that link finally working? It hasn’t worked for weeks.

I see what you mean…the link it still dead, you have to remove the /reports.html from the url. I never noticed because I usually go to whatever page I need by directly search for it from the UA home page.

I don’t know…

Frankly, I think there are a few things that could be done to improve recruitment…

1) have an Honors College-version tour that people can sign up for online

2) have a video like the one for A&S for the other colleges, and one for the university.
[YouTube - ‪The University of Alabama College of Arts & Sciences "This is How College is Meant to Be"‬‏](http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IZlHp-Xu81M)

I give the above link to prospective students/parents who may not be able to visit the campus in the near future. There used to be another link to this video, but it doesn’t work anymore…so now I use this one.

Feeno…I’m still not able to get to the old 2009-10 factbook thru search…and can’t do the 2010-11 one either.

It’s not the first result but if you search for Factbook or 2009-2010 factbook you should get a list of results and it will be there.

Somebody should let them know the link on the “About UA” page is dead and should be updated.

*t’s not the first result but if you search for Factbook or 2009-2010 factbook you should get a list of results and it will be there. *

I see that “result”…but that links is not working either.

Dr. O’Rear is the person with whom I have corresponded via email. He replied to my email today, and said that the 2010 Factbook is still under construction. I found his contact info on the OIRA site. Not sure if he is responsible for when the various elements on the OIRA site appear each year.

Mom, if no one at UA has ever contacted you about recruitment, someone is not doing their job. I think you have some great ideas there, especially in relation to the recruitment of the top notch students. It is not that UA is doing a bad job. I think they have done very well. But with all the advantages UA possesses, I think there is room for improvement. I think the idea for an updated UA Engineering video is superb. Of course UA is attracting increasing numbers of Engineering students, but they would probably be even more successful if they enhanced the presentation of that college. Perhaps if you had the ear of a prominent alum with deep pockets, administration people would listen.
