Inside Higher Ed has a story on the draft FAFSA:
The first version of what the new Free Application for Federal Student Aid will look like is here, and it’s not the short application many have hoped for. It has 46 questions and runs 21 pages, although many students won’t have to answer all the questions.
I filled in the FAFSA for my son recently, but it was the online version. It’s amazing how much easier that was since it pulls a bunch of information from the IRS. It’s frustrating that the paper form is so much more complicated and intimidating. Feels regressive since the people who most need to fill in the form will be less likely to know how to do it.
