Dramatic improvement in class rank.....as of first semester senior year. Will it help?

Basically when I sent all my applications out, I had a cummulative rank of 16/~300. I just got my first semester report card and my new cummulative rank is 8. Is it too late for this to make a difference

Btw, test scores on are in Vandy’s range (35 ACT, 800 and 760 subject tests) and good activities. I felt the weakest part was definitely my rank.

please don’t think about rank anymore. Your stats are more than excellent and in years past would have been rare. Please rest easy and focus on your quality of life senior year. This race is run. There will be new races ahead of you.

It certainly won’t hurt.

You can ask your guidance counselor to send a short email to the admissions office reporting your new rank…I don’t know how much it will help, but as Pancaked said, it certainly won’t hurt. You never know what might give you an edge in the competitive admissions process. Good luck!

Completely disagree with Faline2 on this one. I’m not sure at all it will help but it’s worth a try given how difficult admission at Vandy has become.
