Dramatic score increase?

e.g. 1710-2200+

Will CollegeBoard not even think twice and just cancel that score? I messed up my first SAT but I know I'm capable of getting 2200+ possibly higher (psat 220) I'm afraid a dramatic score increase would warrant immediate cancellation.

Any thoughts?

No it wouldnt but it may lead to an FBI investigation LOL!!

^ fredkay is partially correct. i heard that if u have 350+ increase in ur composite score then the CB will investigate ur scores, contact ur counselor, and examine ur GPAs to see if the scores and the GPA agree.

^ Would the record of a 220 PSAT not prevent that?

idk about that case, sorry…

but I’m not cheating so the investigation would end with me keeping my score right?

bump 10 char

Hey, Op, incase you didnt notice, everyone is screwing with you
you’ll be fine

and if you did notice, then I just got ■■■■■■■

^ confuzzled, I’m serious though not ■■■■■■■■ here lol I’m just afraid that my preparation for the next test will come to nothing if it gets cancelled. I’ve been working so hard this winter break, practically making my room an SAT dungeon haha

bump

need an answer lol :)

I don’t think they will cancel the score. I’m in the same boat as well. My last SAT was 17XX and I got 217 on the PSAT, so hopefully they see the progression.

The score may be delayed for an extra week (or so) at worst (assuming you didn’t do anything wrong).

The investigation will only happen if the dramatic score increase is within a month or two. How do I know this? Because it happened to one of my tutor’s students, who studied so much, went up from 1500 -> 2100 within a month. The person got his score cancelled. He retook it again, and received 2100 again (thus collegeboard was off)

I know another guy who got 1200 first try (didn’t care at all). Took it 8 months later (without studying) and got 2370 (because he tried that time), and nothing happened to him.

^ Wait collegeboard is allowed to cancel someone’s score without his/her consent? What was their reason for cancelling the scores though?

Yes, collegeboard has power to cancel a score if they have reason

They stated that the reason for cancelling the guy’s score is that it was improbable/impossible to raise your score by that much in such a short amount of time. Something like that. Not too sure about details (since I’m not that guy) xD

Oh how unfortunate… that’s so discouraging =[

Yup, but I guess in a way that you should be able to score just as high again, or consistently the same
I know someone who scored 2070 three times in a row :stuck_out_tongue: lol

Actually, I’m pretty sure CB can’t cancel someone’s score just on suspicion. If they investigate and find no evidence of cheating, then the score stays.

hmm not sure o_o there’s a lot of factors that CB puts into account
like another one of my friends who got 2360 got suspected for cheating, since the guy next to him cheated off of his paper. He founded out that the school where he took it actually had a sitting arrangement, which made it more suspicious. But, he got his score after a lot of fighting. (so did the guy next to him who cheated off of him) lol

CB is a monopoly. it can do whatever it wants to us ):

LOL you are funnnnyyyyyy
