Wow, the curriculum is that rigid? Hm. That’s a little disheartening; although I’d be happy with dramaturgy, it’d be interesting to explore different theatrical disciplines.

If you’re looking for broad based programs where you can take classes in many theatre disciplines, I’d suggest looking at a BA program or a Theatre Arts degree such as the ones at BU and DePaul.

kaleidotroph: The curriculum at CMU is not rigid, exactly, but it is a conservatory program and the emphasis is on professionalism rather than exploration. I second megpmom’s comment and BU sounds like a great school but I don’t think DePaul academics are rigorous enough. Also, their TA degree is actually a directing program.

I’m very interested in BU, as well. I like the sound of their Theatre Arts program.

This is another tangent, but do you know of the caliber of UArts’ Directing, Playwriting, & Production program? I’ve done slight research on the school itself, but mostly all I’ve come to find consists of information on its acting/musical theatre program.

Yep. My D applied to this one as well and it was her second choice. PM me about it and I can explain in more detail.
