I took the SAT last year (sophomore) and took it again this past december. If I take it this summer, what is the general consensus by colleges on that move? It would be my first time taking it in the "spring of junior year" session, my second time as a junior, and my third time overall.

The SATs are not given in the summer. You'll have to wait and take it as a senior if you want to take it again.

Piccolo - that's almost exactly what my son did and it didn't have any bearing on his acceptances at all. He took it as a soph because the test was "new" and GC suggested they get a feel for it. Scheduled again as a Jr and was sick, took it anyway and didn't do as well as he expected. Took it a third time June before Sr year. I think too much emphasis is put on worrying about "how many" - I don't think adcoms have time to obsess about how many times you took it, (unless a school makes an explicit statement to the contrary which I've never seen) - in fact, in most cases, I believe they only see your highest scores. My son was accepted 8/8, including H, P and a "named" full ride scholarship - also had no hooks. That's just our experience, of course, but I haven't seen any evidence that taking it more than once or twice is detrimental to admissions.

Thanks for the heads up, mcmom.

Chedva...I was obviously referring to the June testing....
