Drawing on my Letter of Recommendation

Hmmm...

Since I really do like art, how would you guys view the idea of drawing on the letter of recommendation envelope?

I would probably only be doing this for my Early Decision school, so it wouldn't be too much of a hassle.

The proper ways to demonstrate your artistic capabilities are via your grades in art classes, ECs, or portfolio, not the envelope of a LOR.

You may think it’s creative, an adcom may think it’s inappropriate. The purpose of a LOR is for another person to discuss you, not for you to use it as an additional place to express yourself.

Problem is that many of those envelopes get opened by clerical support staff and discarded. Your adcom may never see it. Submit the portfolio rather than risk all that creativity and effort going to waste.

Thanks for telling me! Guess I won’t be doing that, then.

I don’t think it can hurt, but I’d also doubt that it’d help.
