Right now, what careers are you guys pursuing?

I've narrowed it down to three: writer (novelist, journalist, whatever, I just love writing), psychiatrist, and lawyer.

I've narrowed it down to three: writer (novelist, journalist, whatever, I just love writing), psychiatrist, and lawyer.

Well, I like to change my mind, but definitely nursing. Can’t decide between pediatrics or psych. Both are interesting, but I love working with kids, so that’ll be it.

Back in the day I wanted to be Jack Bauer, a ballerina, and a UN ambassador. Neither of those things are panning out.

Or maybe i’ll luck out and i’ll get to be a nurse in the Air Force.

Top UG —> IB —> PE/HF/VC —> Greatness

“The Track” if anyone is interested.

So technically Greatness is my dream career.

I would really like to go into mechanical engineering. Other careers I would possibly go into are computer science or maybe become a statistician

Hmm will for me it’s either Congressional Representive or Corporate Lawyer.

A SUPER HERO! Jkjk I was thinking, Doctor, intelligence analysis, or open a non for profit organization for kids who want to pursue higher education.

@Kaeroza, the last option sounds like being a super hero:):).

Haha really! I have had tht idea for awhile, I even thought of starting it in hs, but it would be really, REALLY difficult and I don’t know how to start it at my age.

Pediatric neurologist, I just have to survive medical school…

@Kaeroze Well search on google lol :):). Because to be honest starting a non profit sounds like being a super hero because of the factor that you helping people in need. Who knows you can probably end up on CNN Heroes.

@ArtsyGirl13 that’s my main aversion to becoming a psychiatrist, the concept of medical school deeply frightens me…

Ibanking or software engineer

@Anonymous I wanted to become an investment banker because of Business Camp but know am like ehh really don’t want to attend business school.

I want to work at St.Jude Children’s Research Hospital as a pediatric oncologist :). Eventually, I want to get into being a research scientist, but I’ll start with being a doctor.

Dream job: Easily Secretary of State.
Dream career: Neurosurgeon. Only problem: too long to get into it. don’t want to sacrifice my 20s…

I have mine broken down into 3 categories:

Money’s All That Matters: Investment Banking —> Private Equity/Hedge Funds

If Money Didn’t Matter: Tech Writer for The Verge

Absolute Dream: CEO of Apple

You can probably combine them… First work as a engineer either software or electrical. Write columns as a guest writer. After years of experience and moving up into management in the engineering firms, switch into technology trading and become a consultant at Wall Street.

@pixels

Mine is your “Money is all that matters”

@kissmeimnotirish

I’m thinking about getting an engineering degree, some working experience, then an MBA

or

Dual major in engineering and finance in UG (probably too dificult?)

The dual degree may be difficult to do in 4 years. Some universities like Northwestern offer programs that help you achieve that kind of goal. The former option is doable and a good way to proceed. Depending on what kind of financial services you want to provide (whether IB, hedge fund, equity, etc vs. VC and more of a specified profile where you focus on tech companies is your decision), you can take a different path. Don’t restrict yourself on just an MBA. Take some econ/finance classes as electives.

Lawyer.
For a big corporate pharmaceutical company in a huge city.
(Pharmaceutical lawyer)
Or at least something in law. We’ll see
Why you ask for a big (presumably evil) company?
Because its my dream. Lay off it.
