Dream Laptop

So I need to buy a laptop before I ot college. My major's Electrical and Computer Engineering...so i'll be using it extensively.

so what's your idea of a dream laptop???

Apple G4, that is if you are going into art. But, I would say a dell laptop. The most exspensive dell.

Sony Vaio or whatever it is that my dad has. I can't get into it, he has it extremely encrypted. My daddy doesn't trust me. I have only used it once.

I'd also want a Dell laptop.

What about new Apple MacBook with Intel microprocessors?

Its got 2 problems from what i see:
1.) No right click...but that can be solved by using an external one.
2.) Its not compatible with some software at Cornell.

Sony Vaio (expensive-ass one) baby.

I'm pretty sure I'm going to go with a MacBook Pro next year.

Which one do you recommend for a math major?

The Sony SZ series is you want a light and powerful laptop...

but if you are doing engineering, you need a big and powerful laptop with an awsome video card so a Toshiba Quosimo or a Dell MPS170.

Alienware FTW!!!!

Yeah dream laptop would be the Alienware Aurora but its a wate of money.

Remember, the new Macs can run Windows as well if needed.

Screw Macs. They are so overpriced its ridiculous.

$600 more than a comparable HP or Dell, $500 more than a comparable Toshiba or Sony.

psh.

build it...

the dream laptop would be Dell XPS M1710. there is no way any other laptop can beat that. Dell owns Alienware, but alienware is a little bit pricy due to all the "Alienware" features. XPS 1710 is the only way to go. i have a XPS M170, but they stop selling those like 2 days after i bought it. still kicks some major ass.

i dont dream of computers.

you dream of star wars

To those of you all considering bing 17" desktop replacements, realize they are going to weight 8-10lbs with a power adaptor. That may not sound like too much but imagine throwing that in a bag with a few books and random items and your going to be pushing a 15-20lbs load if you're not careful. Lugging a load like that around a walking campus is going to get real old real quick. Lightness should definately be an attribute you seriously consider before only picking the seemingly superior spec'ed out model.

Dell M1710 is for nubs that don't know anything about computers. You can buy minimal features at a sale price for an Inspiron E1705, and install the needed memory and upgraded graphics card at a later time.

My dream is to build my own computer :) It's so much cheaper than buying a new computer and you get to customize it!

In other news:
I'd be wary about using a mac as an engineering major.
