Dream Residential Hall

Of all the dorms, which is your dream dorm? My top three are snell-hitchcock, burton judson, or breckinridge.

BJ, Breckinridge, or South Campus. I really hope I get one of those three. Is there like a “you’ll get one of your top three choices” guarantee? I guess not…

do we even get to pick our dorms??

when you do your housing app, you get to choose your top 3 and mark off your personal preferences. you have better chances of getting what you want if you turn in your app early. i think it’s first come first serve

You get to request your top three dorms, but they can’t guarantee that everyone will get into one of them. Chances are you’ll love your dorm even if it wasn’t one of your top three (speaking from reports of current students on the class of 2012 facebook group).

OP, me, too!

I put Snitchcock, Breck, then BJ. Snitchcock is amazing. I’m an EA admit, and I submitted my housing app mid February, so I’m hoping to get Snitchcock! I know there are people who confirmed and submitted before me, but I’m hoping that since I submitted before all the people waiting for RD, that I’ll be towards the front of the queue.

How hard is it to get into Snitchcock?

I think I am going to put Max, South, and Pierce in that order. But I really just want Max, it seems best for me all around. Any ideas on whether Max fills up early?

Can I submit a housing application without accepting the admission offer?

There should be plenty of room in Max and South, and probably in BJ and Pierce as well.

Even though I don’t yet have to go-ahead from my parents to enroll, I’ve done my housing app. I’ve got Pierce, Max, and Maclean.

You have to accept the offer in order to submit the housing app. Otherwise, I would’ve done it back in December.

Woohoo! Way to fight the tide (harharhar).

I have a feeling that Snitchcock and BJ will be nearly impossible for RDers to get, since they seem to be the most demanded, and housing is a first-come first-serve thing.

I’m hoping I’m wrong, because I really want a single in BJ, Snitchcock or Breckenridge.

It sounds like BJ isn’t too hard to get. Snitchcock is supposed to fill up with EAers (I’m hoping I’m one of them), and Breck is supposed to have room for even the RDers. I wouldn’t worry about getting into one of those. I’d worry about getting a single at all.

which dorm has the personal bathrooms? i remember hearing about that in a youtube video made by a uchicago student

BJ, Snitchcock, Pierce

Basically because they all have small houses (except Hitchcock). But I really like BJ most.
singles + small houses + close to dining hall + close to library + close to quads = perfection

Max has quads - so you would share a bathroom with three others.

I think I know the video you’re talking about, and I’m almost certain he was in Breckenridge. Did the video have multiple parts?

yes guys, i know the video. Its by a current film studies student named Serge. After watching that video series, and his other one called “Everything I Know I learned from the Movies…” or something, I found this film blog that he does:

[Cold Crash Pictures Commentary](<a href=“Cold Crash Pictures”>Cold Crash Pictures)

I hope this all doesnt sound too creepy, I was just really into the school!

yeah it has 2 parts…i mustve watched the video about 5 times…

The Admitted Student Weekends have historically included dorm tours, the only downside being you have to wait a few more weeks before sending in your housing requests…

amazing. I love this kid. If he’s still at Chicago, I must go worship him. ;)

He’s in broadview hall, not breck.
