I want to Major in Civil Engineering or Aerospace Engineering

Any advice. I know my SAT's are extremely low. DO I have a chance. Berkeley is the school I really want to attend. It's been my top choice all my high school life.

No, retake the SAT And aim for at least 2150+.

Your SAT is really, really low, especially for engineering. You need really strong SAT science and math scores. Most engineers get 800 SAT Math.

Unfortunately, I’d say Berkeley’s a reach. Your GPA and rank are strong, and your ECs are average. However, a 1500 SAT just won’t cut it, especially since you’re applying as an engineering major (Berkeley doesn’t have aerospace engineering, though). Try to raise it to at least 2000, though engineering standards are even higher than that (more like 2200).

I just took the SAT’s on OCT and I assume I will be getting
1500’s
but it’s my senior year and that was my last shot
taking subject test on nov.
assuming I do averagely in the subject test will that cut it
I am an extremely bad test taker

uuuuuuuuuuuuum the sats are now out of 2400, not 1600 (since you still seem to only aim for 1500- which if you get, you might as well take pirus’s advice and stop dreaming of berkeley)

Berkeley doesn’t have Aerospace Engineering.
I think your SAT score is just not enough.

I got into Berkeley Engineering with SAT1 2110. I’m international so it’s harder for me to get in, but I would suggest that you get your SAT to at least 1700, because that’s the lowest SAT score I know of in Berkeley Engineering (Chemical Engineering).

i doubt it unless hes been living under a rock for the past years or has been home schooled (and hence never heard about the SAT update from peers if his parents were anal and shut him off from the rest of the world) and hasn’t thought about college until now

yes that math II score will bring down your chances. if you have time and are well disciplined, i suggest doing the barrons math2c book at least half way through. its a really great book and helped me prepare for the test alot. the questions on the barrons are waaayyy harder too, so when you take the test it will be a cinch.

Again, even a 28 won’t cut it. I’d say 30 at the very least, probably 32+ to be competitive for engineering. For math IIC, 700+ would be good for engineering.
