Could anyone tell me what the actual dress code for classes at Exeter is?
What about out of classes?

hi, my son just graduated in june. No jeans for anyone. For males, you need to wear a shirt and tie to class.

thanks, did he have a good experience?

yes, he did. and he did not mind wearing a shirt and tie!

that's good. Actually, I had to wear a full dress uniform last year because I went to a school in England. Blazer, shirt, tie, dress shoes, the whole nine yards! That was kind of annoying.

drnancie, where is your S matriculating?

actually, i spoke with some exeter kids [i'm going in a few days] and they said jeans are fine with most teachers. some teachers are against the code, and will not care/will not get you in trouble for not following it, while others are a bit more strict with it. basically, it's a shirt and tie for guys and nothing revealing for girls. nothing torn, frayed. also, there's a sort of "fashion police", but that's another thread. :P

oh, and the dress code only applies for in class and for assembly, and also whenever appropriate [visiting other schools, etc.] out of class, anything goes. [also, the code states there are not to be athletic wear or hats worn indoors except in dorms and in the gym.]
