So my school district sucks right now. They just made a new dress code that bans any shirts with pictures or words, no hoodies, no coats or jackets, and no piercings besides the ears, and some other stuff. Was almost about to ban jeans and flipflops too.

And they've been considering a uniform for at least a year, and are planning to put one in next year.

I guess it's better than what you'd have to wear at a private school though. But it still sucks.

hm. sounds pretty reasonable to me, except maybe the hoodies bc even at my school with a uniform we can wear sports sweatshirts (ordered through the school)

i actually like my uniform, i think it's mildly cute and just much easier than picking out an outfit everyday
i wouldnt like it if we didn't have a uniform but had a really strict dress code, bc then i'd still have to buy a lot of clothes that fit the dress code PLUS clothes i actually like etc to wear on weekends

with a uniform i only have to buy like 3 uniform skirts, 12 or so uniform blouses, knee socks, etc for school and then w/e i want for weekends breaks and what not

I went to an all-guys school...and we had to wear a dress shirt and tie all year and khakis...blazers from October to April (November-whenever you realized your teachers didn't care for seniors). Heck somedays during my last year I just wore a zip up turtleneck thing and nobody cared.

But then, we also had free dress days pretty much every Friday starting in my junior year, which was nice.

My public school's really liberal about dress code in general, but some teachers are picky. The actual rules say nothing super-short or low, no tummy exposed, and no spaghetti-strapped tank tops or halters. Too bad it's rarely enforced...

my school is private and has a uniform. a polo/oxford shirt with the school emblem and chino pants ( i get them from American Eagle), belt, dress shoes. it's not too bad.

My school's dress code isn't too bad. The only rules I have a problem with are no tank tops, halter tops, and flip-flops, but no one really pays attention to the flip-flop thing.

i think it's because of the possibility of like people stomping on your feet if the halls are crowded, etc. although i guess foot fetishes could also be a problem lmao

Yea, my school used to have a normal dress code (for public school standards). But there's been a push for uniforms lately. In ohio though, you can't have uniforms unless you tell the people 6 months before school starts, so they just made a strict dress code.

That's a ridiculous reason to ban flip flops. It's almost like banning pencils because if you drop one and try to catch it, you can stab yourself with them pretty badly. (I've done that. My hand bled for like 5 min nonstop. From a PENCIL!! >.<)

oo, yea that does hurt! Anyway... ours is pretty good no halter/spag. strap tops, sleevless must be so many fingers wide (like 3 I guess). Jeans can't have holes above the knee, shorts/skirts of appropriate length. Shirts with sayings in question go to principal. And our principal's personal favorite to bust is when guys jeans sag so much you see more boxer than anyone cares to see. (It's kinda funny, he'll chew a kid out for something & the last thing he'll say is, 'oh, by the way, pull up your pants')
