Which schools have dress codes and which don't? By dress code, I don't mean, "No short shorts", I mean "You must wear khakis and a collared shirt", or something of that sort. I would use boardingschoolreview for this, but I've found it to be unreliable as it said Choate does not have a dress code... but it does.

Exeter: boys wear shirt and tie or a turtleneck. Pretty much whatever they want for shorts/pants/jeans, as long as they’re not too ratty. Girls theoretically have a dress code, but it’s not enforced very strictly.

Lawrenceville: Boys wear a collared shirt or sweater with pretty much any pants/shorts and shoes, just no gym clothes or shower shoes. Girls can wear pretty much anything, just no gym clothes or shower shoes. Straps on shirts and dresses have to be at least an inch wide, shorts and shirts have to be fingertip length. Dress code isn’t very strictly enforced from what I’ve seen, mostly everyone wants to look nice and put together.

deerfield: girls wear 2 visible layers on top, one must be a sweater or blazer, or a dress with sleeves. no jeans

Thanks everyone for their responses so far! But just an fyi, I’m a guy :P.

Hotchkiss: boys must wear to class long pants (not jeans), dress shoes and long sleeve dress shirt with tie or jacket.

Here’s my list:

Andover: Casual(Nothing obscene obviously)
Exeter: Shirt and tie or turtleneck
SPS: Collared shirt or sweater w/ khakis
Groton: Same as above
Deerfield: Shirt and tie, blazer, nice pants
Middlesex: Same as Groton and SPS

Andover: Casual(Nothing obscene obviously)
Exeter: Shirt and tie or turtleneck
SPS: Collared shirt or sweater w/ khakis
Groton: Same as above
Deerfield: Shirt and tie, blazer, nice pants
Middlesex: Collared shirt or sweater, non-blue jean pants or shorts

@Izzy,
Could a long sleeve t-shirt pass as a “sweater” at Msex? (For guys)

No, though of course there are people who try to get around it.

Boys at Exeter can have shirt and tie/ turtleneck. Girls can basically wear whatever they want ** but alot of times it depends on the teacher **. Now people mostly wear jeans, cords, skirts with leggings, and a collared shirt or plain t-shirt with a sweater/scarf/cardigan.

Choate Rosemary Hall:

Boys: The only thing we must wear is a collared shirt. No shorts that go above mid thigh (although no guys really go that far haha) and no jeans unless white. No sweatshirts or hoodies (unless they are zip-ups)
Girls: shirts must have straps, no shorts above midthigh (although everyone breaks this rule too) and no jeans unless white. No sweatshirts or hoodies (unless they are zip-ups)

So it’s not tooo bad.

What kind of shoes do the boys wear?

It seems as if Deerfield has the most strict dress code… the way I see it, anyway.

The Brooks dress code is similar to Deerfield’s. From the Brooks website’s FAQ:

Do you have a dress code?
Yes, we do. The boys’ attire includes a button-down shirt, a tie, a pair of dress pants or khakis, and a blazer. As for the girls, they can wear skirts with an appropriate blouse, a dress, or pants with a blazer. Color restrictions do not exist so students are free to wear purple pants with a green shirt and an orange tie.
