Gourmetmom-LOL! that explains it! we were not all choosing shoes for the same dress! The nude shoes would look fabulous with that multi color dress that I am not going to buy!

(I was suggesting the silver shoes for the blue dress.)

Zetesis: I think that strappy sandals are great as long as you will be comfortable in them for the duration. I find strappy shoes with heels are tough on my feet if I am standing for a long time.

Gmom, I was just scrolling down through the thread to say orange. A burnt orange. Would look fantastic. My daughter would let me wear orange shoes, but then sheās used to me:). For a more standard wedding look, what about a pearl satin, or a matte silver? The issue with that blue, if you care about these things, is that itās a very 80ās color, so you want to go subtle with everything else. If you donāt care about these things, and nobody has to, then wear whatever you and your daughter like. People arenāt apt to be looking at your feet too much:).

āMatchy matchy looks very dated. I know that old habits are hard to break.ā

Well, itās been true for just enough time that matching pantsuits have actually come back into style again - oversized (boyfriend style) or cropped jackets and straight legged pants, not the same old 80s or 90s look, though.

Just wanted to report that I ordered the Ralph Lauren āKim Trellisā dress from Bloomieās (thanks to whoever posted the link a few pages back) and it came today. It fits wonderfully (size 8), and is made of a much nicer, heavier material than most of these dresses usually come in, so it drapes well. I tried it on with a wide-ish black belt and it looks great. If I had more style Iād wear it with colorful shoes, but Iām a reticent person and will probably wear black. I do have a red patent Cole-Haan clutch that would spice it upā¦

I hope Gmom is going to like this - although perhaps it belongs in the āgetting serious about being frugalā thread. I wore my Motherās Day gift FitFlops all last summer and really liked them. So when I saw a new pair at Ross the other day for just $16.99, I thought Iād found a great deal. I cut off all the tags and have been wearing them for four days or so. Only today did I look down at my feet and notice something odd. One heel is quite close to the back and the other is not. So I took them off and stood them up on the floor, sole to sole. Do you see where Iām going with this? One is a full size bigger than the other. Some bargain, huh?

My MIL recently gave my DD a really cute pair of genuine vintage turquoise & silver earringsā¦with a matching necklaceā¦the entire visit MIL wondered aloud, over & over, why DD would wear either the earrings or the necklace but never the both together matchy matchy

I ran through a WHBM store at the mall, and noticed that they had a few turquoise-colored pieces scattered among the fields of black and white clothing. The combination looked really lovely!

I just checked out the shoe links - OMG. I think Jimmy Choo shoes (as well as many others)with heels higher than 3" are torture devices (their businessy looking pumps with 2.5" heels are very comfy - go figure)! Did anyone else catch what Meryl Streep said during her red carpet pre-Oscar interview? When asked what she was thinking about or wishing for, she said something about sitting down so she could finally get her Jimmy Choos off of her tired feet! LOL. If I were to invest in a pair of designer shoes with high heels, Iād try them on and walk around the store both on carpeted areas and on tiles, because what feel comfy on carpet could feel awfully uncomfortable on hard surfaces. And I always go shoe shopping when my feet are swollen and tired. :)

Thatās too bad about your Fitflops, Puzzled. Youāll have to buy two more pairs in each size to make things right! At that price, itās not such a big deal!

I agree that a 4" heel is just too high - difficult to walk in and hard on the foot. But a modest 3" can be relatively comfortable. My gauge is if I can walk from the car to the restaurant, I should be okay.

The shoe really does make the outfit, and Iāll probably be wearing heels into my eighties. I find that Manolos are quite comfortable. They are very well balanced - the weight is spread out so that there is not much pressure on the ball of the foot. I havenāt found another shoe that is equally comfortable.

Gourmetmom, have you seen the shoes at danadavis.com ? They are a high-end line designed to prevent/alleviate foot problems. I read about them in the NY Times but they are not available at stores in our area. Since at least one Nordstrom store carries them, my local Nordstrom shoe salesman mentioned that they could be shipped for free if I wanted to try them; but they would have to be on sale for me to give them a try.

I am searching for a day dress to wear this summer casually in place of my usual crop pants or longish shorts. Iām a slender pear. Average height. Canāt wear a print to save my life. Arms are actually okay. Cannot spend more than $150. Have been poring over Nordstrom online and coming up empty handed.

Thank you WIP and Mafool - it would never have occurred to me to look at Anthropologie. I like those very much and we have a store nearby. Also really like the price range.

WIP, I loved the Brendel eyeglass frames but canāt find them here. They are really, really elegant.

ps

Even tho I donāt wear prints, Iām smitten with this:
