I looked at the frames at the local Costco Optical… The time has come for me to get my reading glasses. No grey hair yet, so I’m not complaining…

Today I though that I should start a website called People of Snohomish County Costcos. Yikes. I have never seen so many bare bellies, muffin tops, bra straps, nose rings, etc. since the last time I had to pick up DD at her HS. Unfortunately, the shoppers sporting those “features” at Costco were not teens - they were ladies of our age

Just have to whine about something. Heard you guys going on and on about Nordstrom’s Rack and have never been able to make it whenever we were in the US from Canada bc as I understand it, they’re usually in suburban areas, and we haven’t made it out of Manhattan. Just got back from NYC yesterday from visiting S2 and heard that we missed a new NR opening in downtown Manhattan by 2 DAYS!!! Well, next time…but really, 2 days.

Still quite dissatisfied with summer wardrobe as it stands. Sigh. In NYC saw lots of skinny jeans, great sandals, fab accessories and why do people have such great tans already?

So, ordered my Garnet Hill dresses and skirt THURSDAY and still waiting. Should have ordered express delivery, I guess. How do you guys stand the suspense?

sewhappy, we just pace around the house waiting for our order, and then give the UPS man a huge hug when the package finally arrives LOL!

My Kooba purse on a string arrived on Saturday. It is very functional and cute at the same time! I can stuff my iPhone and my cards in it, and there is still room left for a checkbook and some makeup. Cool! The color is terrific - it is turquoise with greenish hues, exactly what I wanted!

Psst - if you want free overnight shipping, order clothes from Zappos!

DH went on one of those corporate team-building retreat things to LV last week and guess where??? Zappos!!

Believe me, his line of business could not be more different than Zappos but he went grumbling about what a dumb waste of time and came back really impressed . . . says their mangement DNA is all Nordstrom, btw.

Just now joining this thread to add that I love Zappos! Fantastic customer service and great shipping. Only had two orders with them so far, but when I compare it to the experiences I’ve had with others they are head and shoulders above. Nordstrom being the exception, of course!

This is so funny–less than an hour ago I was praising Zappo’s service to my H, using the same language! I said that Zappo’s is head, shoulders, and body above any other company I order from online.

I have been looking for black flat shoes that might fit my strange requirements, so I just ordered three pairs of flats from Zappo’s yesterday afternoon, and the shoes will be here today. I am a VIP customer at Zappo’s (just because I have purchased there several times) and get free overnight shipping. Regular free shipping is standard.

Guess what, Bunsen? One of the pairs I ordered is the Burberry flats you liked. (In black because they didn’t have my size in that cool pewter.) I’ve never had a pair of shoes that expensive before, but my feet have issues and I have to search for shoes that fit and don’t hurt somewhere. I’ll let you know if they fit and I decide to keep them.

bookiemom, on my second order Zappos upgraded me to free overnight shipping. I won’t tell you what I bought or how much I spent to qualify me on the second order as it would be embarrassing. JCrew, who I’ve ordered from for years, has yet to do anything nice for me.

Zappo’s really makes you notice the quality of service at the other places. At the same time I ordered the shoes from Zappo’s, I ordered a skirt from Nordstrom. I also get free (standard) shipping from them. So far I have an email from them saying my order has been received and expected delivery date is May 18. I have had a Nordstrom credit card for 22 years. So yes, Nordstrom has high quality service, but Zappo’s could teach them a thing or three.

Mom60: you should try Zappo’s. Their web site is the easiest to use of any sites I order from. Free returns too.

Nordstrom does not have free returns, so now that I think this through, I should always order from Zappo’s first.

I have shoe fit issues. Most shoes aren’t comfortable. I have a narrow heal but a wide front and like a wide toe box. My other issue is that my big toe turns upward and I tend to get a hole in my shoes. And have a problem with shoes that have a seam at the big toe. Plus a tight toebox is uncomfortable. I have tried the strips they stick in the back of shoes but I find I still get blisters unless I can wear a sock.
I would love to find a comfortable flat shoe that was pretty. I don’t have much of a problem in summer. I buy shoes but tend to go back to my same comfortable pairs. I can’t even find a comfortable pair of boots since my heal moves up and down. Even in my tennis shoes my sock tends to slide down inside the shoe. Brands of flats I have tried, Ecco, Cole Haan Nike, Munro. None of them are all that comfortable.
I have sandals I can wear, my Ugg boots, my tennis shoes-once I find a pair that work. Summer style heels work if they have a back strap that can be tightened.

Added issue is I have hip problems and have orthotics plus I am now trying a lift in one shoe. Thus my comfortable sandals and slip on shoes are not good for my hip.
any suggestions?

I also have a very narrow heel and need a wide toe box because I have a bunion on one foot. I step right out of most flats unless there is some kind of strap. I do best with shoes that tie.

Your combination of fit issues seems really hard. Have you tried Merrell shoes? They work pretty well for me.

bookiemon: Nordstrom will not charge you a return fee if you take the stuff to one of their stores and will issue a refund right away. That’s what I do. N-M does not charge a return fee either if you take your online purchases to the store, but it takes up to two weeks for them to process your refund!

I hope the Burberries will work for you - they are super cute. :)

mom60, neither Cole Haan nor Ecco flats work for me. I like Born flats (most of them have arch support) and Me Too flats for everyday wear. Taryn Rose makes comfortable shoes. Dana Davis is another brand mentioned on this thead (Endless sells their shoes). I’ve heard good things about Butter shoes, but I have not tried them.

bookiemom- I have several pairs of Merrell and they work but I want something that is more stylish and feminine. I also do best with shoes that tie.

Still waiting on the Garnet Hill order. Called them and it turns out two of three items are on back order till end of June. I cancelled them. Then I finally went over to Zappos and right away see why everyone loves it so much. Ordered three dresses for a grand total of $178. A little worried about sizing since I’ve never tried on these brands before.

sewhappy, if the dresses don’t fit, you can either return them or exchange for a different size - Zappos makes it so easy. I love Lole and Horny Toad (but I always cut off the ugly lizard logo)!

Pssst - for anyone who plans on being in Seattle on May 21-23, Sportswise will be holding one of their semi-annual sportswear sales in Fremont. Check besportswise dot com for details.

The Lole dress I recently ordered was very true to size, so you probably won’t have a problem. I bought an almost identical cardigan from Three Dots a few years ago - a spontaneous purchase at Fred Segal in Santa Monica (I love that store) and it was not a great choice. It had a misshapen, blah look to it - I gave it to my daughter and she didn’t like it either.

What do you consider good cardigans that are in a lower price range? I have trouble with summer cardigans. Usually wear my black or pale pink cashmere cardigans bought twenty years ago. Both made in Scotland and both have the luxe feel and drape. But they are longish in the body and don’t feel stylish.
