So- in the summer I like to carry a Vera Bradley bag because the prints are pretty (turquoise paisley etc). These bags are favored by sorority girls (each sorority picks a pattern…) and, as I just learned, elderly ladies. I got to Pennsylvania this past weekend for son’s graduation with my nice, new Vera Bradley bag and as we prepared for a family graduation dinner to honor my son and niece, my sister’s mother in law (age 93) arrived with a bag in the identical print! She got such a kick out of the fact that we had the same bag! (slightly different styles, but same pattern). Reminded me of my sister showing up at church in her new Chico’s outfit to discover that the 70 year old woman in the next pew had on the same thing…

It’s true - my mom and my daughter both love their Vera Bradley bags!

I meant to say that the main reason I like the Vera Bradley bags (besides the pretty prints) is because they are LIGHT!! I get tired of my heavy leather bags sometimes, and summer is a nice break.

sewhappy, are you thinking about PLATFORM wedges?

Regular wedges are, I think, actually more stable than heels of the same height.

Mafool - I am thinking of trying some platform wedges. I think someone on this wonderful thread mentioned having Bjorn wedges. I usually enjoy wearing Bjorns and am going to hop onto zappos dot com and look as soon as I can catch my breath. Son home from college and still working thru the laundry.

MomofWildChild, I am also tired of big leather bags. Just switched to a MonSac straw bag I’d bought a few years ago and it feels so good to be out of the old one. What’s really neat about Vera Bradley is they are washable. I may pick up one this summer. Why not? Why should the grandmas and daughters have all the fun?

We have a winner in the black ballet flats department! The Born Adele flats fit well, are very supportive, don’t slip off my heels, and don’t hurt anywhere! Thanks for your advice, Bunsen! (Maybe you should steal yours back from your D.)

I have a couple of Vera Bradley bags. I like them because they are so light, but I thought they were considered grandma-ish these days. (Or maybe great-grandma-ish.)

bookiemom, you are welcome! I’m glad you were able to find a pair of comfortable flats! DD says she is not giving them back to me since she has to walk all over her campus. :)

I have massive shopping plans for the weekend - DD needs a dress to wear to her BF’s college graduation, so we will be hitting the Tulalip Outlets and the local malls.

I went to the Tulalip Outlets a couple of weeks ago for only the second time. I only found one thing–a hot pink Coach bag, sateen fabric with the C design. It’s from the regular Coach stores and it was 60% off! (30% off because it was at the outlet and they gave me a 30% off coupon if you spent over some amount.) I have been wanting a pink purse for the longest time–my favorite color.

I also just got the Not Your Daughter’s Jean pencil skirt that was discussed here, in dark denim. Hey, with my new black flats and my pink purse…now if we could just get some warm weather to go with bare legs…

So, I finally decided to spend the money for a Land’s End swim suit…I bought the boy shorts, a halter top and a tankini top. ($14.95 for shipping and handling!!!) Next, I don’t like the fit. I measured myself and chose my size carefully but the tops are too tight through the chest - and I am barely an A cup! I think they must intend for the tops to fit like a sports bra, which may be good if you are racing, but I don’t need or want to be smooshed down for lounging in my back yard. I’m sending it back - the three pieces together were in the $145 range.

Bookiemom- I have never heard of Born Adele flats. Is that the brand name or style name? I am going to google then and cross my fingers that they come in narrow.

Re: Vera Bradley bags, D and friends like them. I remember a similar trend in HS, a friend who sewed made me a bag.

Born is the brand and Adele is the style. They have them on onlineshoes.com and also Zappos (I think).

I have a couple of graduation parties and casual events to go to this summer. I found these shoes. Am I too old to wear these? [Enzo Angiolini ‘Nusa’ Sandal - - Nordstrom](http://shop.nordstrom.com/S/3072002?origin=saveforlater#reviewAnchor)

I was thinking of wearing this with these shoes in pewter. [Caslon® Smocked Slub Knit Cardigan - - Nordstrom](http://shop.nordstrom.com/S/3085360?origin=saveforlater)

With white capri’s. What does everyone think? I’m trying to find something casual but still nice to wear outside at a poolside graduation party.

Dear god nowhere near too old:). But I’d wear them with longer white jeans, to the ankle, skinny if that’s in your shape closet…

I like both the sandals and the sweater. I second alumothers suggestion. Capri’s are starting to look very dated to me.

I agree. When I think about it, I don’t think they even sell capris in the stores in which my Ds buy their clothes.

NOOOOO–say it isn’t so. I like capris now, and it took me several years to get used to them. I just bought white Not Your Daughter’s Jeans capris and thought they were stylish. Sigh…just when you get used to some trend you like, it’s “so last season.”

I think capris are being replace by pants that hit above the ankle. It’s really a good look, in my opinion. I can wear those skinny ankle pants to work with nice shoes (either flats OR wedge heels) with a blazer and look very professional. I wouldn’t go to court like that, but for our business casual office, it works well.

I think those shoes would look fabulous with white (or off-white) Euro-style capris, like these ones:

[Piazza Sempione Stretch Cotton Capris - - Nordstrom](http://shop.nordstrom.com/S/2948995?Category=&Search=True&SearchType=predictivesearch&keyword=piazza+sempione&origin=searchresults)

And no, you are not too old to wear those shoes!

Off to order those shoes! Since I’m 5’1" I couldn’t find anything I really liked in a cropped pant at Nordstrom so I’ll keep looking or try to find a pair of regular capri’s that I can wear as a cropped pant.

At Nordstrom’s in the petite dept. most of the cropped pants I saw are way too short for what I am thinking about.

I used to have a great pair of white jeans that ended above the ankle. Alas they are about 15 pounds ago. Sigh!

My D goes to school on the east coast and we live in the midwest. She says that the styles are very different. She doesn’t even want to buy any clothes this summer but wait until she goes back to school. You see lots of capri’s here and not any gladiator sandals. All we saw in New York was black ballet flats and gladiator sandals. Also boots with shorts or skinny jeans. I didn’t think I would see boots in May. But my D says all the kids at her school wear boots with their shorts. I’m not sure that trend is ever going to make it to my small town in the midwest!

It is May, and I wore boots to work today!! And my cashmere scarf. And gloves.

All this talk about capris makes me sad… :(
