Hey, Bunsen, I went to the Bellevue Nordstrom sale today. Very busy in there–did not look like any recession. All the good stuff wasn’t gone. I got a gray merino wool long cardigan, black knit jean jacket, black rayon long drapey cardigan, all around half off. Two new lipsticks plus Clinique bonus with nice makeup bag. Skinny NYDJ jeans in dark thinner denim. I tried on the boyfriend style jeans with the rolled cuffs and the ankle length jeans and both do not look good on me.

Since it is so darn cold and gray and gloomy here in WA, shopping therapy was necessary.

bookiemom - high five! I ran through the downtown Nordy’s - there isn’t anything good left in there. It was crowded and busy!

I did order a couple of things online for DDs. Those colorful Burberry polos rarely go on sale. And we need a splash of color here really badly!

I kind of like this trend tho I think I might not be tall enough to pull off the “long lean” look. The great thing about it to my mind is that it allows one to not worry about whether to wear tights, stockings, leggings or bare legs.

Please only do the maxis if you are long and lean like the ladies in those pictures. So many of the ladies I see in them look like they are a docent for a historical society or something.

I’m long and I’m working on the lean part…although black helps create that illusion. But if I got as lean as I want to be, I’m quite sure I would not choose to hide under a skirt. That said, i do have some lovely flowy long skirts that I wear with fitted tops and flats sometimes. Not often though. BTW, some of those models in the pics look like they could audition for a BeetleJuice sequel.

And public service announcement: No matter how long your skirt is, it is never long enough to totally hide your shoes. A couple of weeks ago at church I saw one lady in a nice dress that went to the ground. She was wearing hiking sandals. We can still see your shoes!

I really think that the maxis only look young and stylish if you have a thin, straight figure. I think that if you have curvy hips or a round rear - even if it is a gorgeous figure - a maxi looks costume-y.

Well, pooh! I like the Maxis and want to wear them even tho I’m 5’5".

Actually, one of my top fav outfits is a black straight skirt that hits at the ankle with boots and a silky top or nice sweater. Other long skirts look lousy on me. I think the key is that they be narrow and hit at the ankle.

I have seen some friends out and about in long summery jumpers over tee-shirts lately and those are very cute.

I think the key to “long and lean” is the proportion, not actual height. I have a friend who is 4’7" and she could probably pull off a maxi (like you said, narrow, hitting right above the ankle) because she’s skinny as a rail.

I tried on a lot of dresses last night and actually thought a long black one was sexiest. It did give a long lean look–that is with Spanx underneath!

The website says you can put a cell phone and keys in that pocket??? How big is it? I like the idea of not having to carry anything. I keep keys in the pocket of my jacket/sweatshirt but in the summer when it’s hot that doesn’t work.

D and I paid a visit to the outlets to see what was on sale. Apparently, someone took advantage of the pre Memorial day sales and literally hit the outlets big time - the Coach store was robbed earlier today  I picked up a pair of really cute ankle-length cropped pants at the Burberry store. With the additional discount, they were semi-affordable :)

Bromfield - my Nike running shorts have a little pocket on the back.
