GunneeSax----we used to call them GranneeSex

Yesā¦Katherine Conoverā¦thatās it! and they were made of cotton, like a jersey, not cotton sheetingā¦sometimes could be very flattering and feminine depending on your figureā¦thanks, Momofthree!

Guilty - I wore a Gunne Sax knock off to my prom in 1977. I hope I donāt even still have pictures! I know I donāt have the dress!!!

I loved Gunne Sax in the 70s and my sister got married in one fo my off white GS prom dresses.

MY mother is in her 80s and quite small, she wears hand me ups from my girls all the time; I love to see all the classic and cute sweaters I bought them at Gap Kids being used to this day by Grandma!

OMG, I wonder how much alike our dresses were. I actually made my 1981 wedding dress, but it was a Jessica McClintock pattern, with a lace collar. I had one of those floppy hats covered in tulleā¦donāt think my Ds will be lining up to wear that one.

Missypie, you never know. I wore my moms early 1950ās satin gown with huge skirt and train and absolutely never, ever thought I would. Things change!!!

Just checked out the Laura Ashley link. I like Laura now better than Laura back thenā¦

I wore a wedding gown that I found in an antique store, Iām not sure how old it was the owners thought 1930ās. All I know is that I felt like Katherine Hepburn when I put it on. Iām one of the few of my generation that I look at my wedding photos and still think they look good. (Husband had a slightly dorky haircut and aviator glasses, but thankfully wore a very traditional tux.)

i had a GunneeSax dress for my senior prom too !

later, i was a bridesmaid and my dress was quiana (light blue).

did anyone else have one of those rust colored leather coats (late 70ās)? mine was knee length.

i kept the GunneeSax dress for many, many years but finally parted with it. it really was prettyā¦delicate floral print, lots of ribbon and lace.

I donāt remember quiana, but Iām sure I wore it, thinking it was just a polyester. The only prom dress label I remember is GunneeSax (1975), as I really loved it, too. Mine was white, with pale blue trim. It had a square neckline.

I thought of this thread last night. I am visiting my daughter at school and we went to a great new restaurant. While we waited for our table, there was a woman beside us who broke the ātoo old to wear leggingsā rule." She also broke the ātoo drunk to wear leggingsā rule but thatās another story. My daughter summed it up well - āshe was a mess.ā

^oh, funny. Yes, donāt we all see some of those!!! Makes for cheap entertainmentā¦

I have a facebook picture up from last night at my daughter/son in lawās house warming and I was wearing slim jeans and boots. My daughter gave it the OK, though, so it passed THAT test. :)

You look great in that pic, MOWC!! Impressive! My (7 year old) daughter just vetoād my Facebook photo (āyou look weirdā) & took another one that Iāll post instead. Ah, the honesty of daughters!!

Love the look!

My D1 is a big Anthropologie fan, and I have actually found some cute things for myself from there. I especially like Ella Moss since the fabric is so comfy. They are opening a store here soon so I will practically live there!

Granted, I havenāt read all the comments, but I did sort of scan for a mention of Anthropologie. Both of my daughters are huge Anthropologie fans (when I pay for the item, of course), and I have more than a few things from there myself. Admittedly, I buy less for myself and more for my daughters than I would like, but some of my favorite clothes come from Anthropologie. BTW - while the clothes are not inexpensive, the sales are really good.

Too bad Iām banned from joining Facebook. I love the skinny jeans/boots look, Iād love to see MOfWC pics. I think I look OK in slim jeans/tall boots (at least my D never gave me a thumbs down, and she is pretty vocal about my clothes).

Last afternoon, H and I went shopping to the Costco Business Center in Lynnwood. Talk about People of Walmart! It seemed that they all decided to go to Costco! Stacey and Clinton would have had no trouble picking their next makeover target in that warehouse! For a while, I felt that we were the best-dressed people in the entire store, then a stunning-looking woman (makeup, nice clothes and great hair) and her bf or H walked past us. My H said, āI bet they are Polish, Ukrainian or from some other European contry!ā He was right. :)

My yD ādiscoveredā Free People and Anthropologie this summer. Yikes, they are not cheap, but she looks really good in their clothes, and she earned enough this summer to splurge on a few outfits. Iāve tried a few pieces myself, but unless they go on sale, I just canāt see myself paying that much for clothes.

My D2 loves Anthropologie, when I am paying. Now that she is partially responsible for her clothing budget, she is WAY more interested in the sales rack ;)
