Dressing Young (Part 1)

@surfcity - darling skirt. I’d pair that with something chocolate brown since it is off-white. I LOVE black and white, but I think with cream or off-white, dark brown looks richer.

I’m disinclined to tuck things in, in general. I think a tank would be great. Since much skin is covered on the lower half of your body, I think you need to show more on the upper half. Or, maybe a cute ballet top - with a lower scoop in both from and back and cap sleeves. The upper half needs to be something more form-fitting, I think. I love a midi length (even though I am not tall), but if everything is covered from head to toe, it gets too matronly/frumpy for me personally.

Thanks for the suggestions. I’m a bit skittish about vionics as I bought a pair of those sports shoes awhile back. They were pretty comfortable in the store but uncomfortable thereafter. I ultimately gave them away to my niece, having only worn them once. She found them uncomfortable as well and gave them to someone who loved them.

Perhaps the slippers/flip-flops fit differently or my feet just aren’t right for that brand. I’m not sure. I have a pair of Abeo sandals I find very comfortable. Maybe that brand matches my foot better?

I’m not familiar with Oofos. Hmm something new to research.

@orangepurple i have a pair of the Abeo sandals but mine have a back. They are very comfortable.

The abeo sandals have a softer base. The Vionics that I had the base was very hard but maybe they have both kinds? Vionics run wide so they aren’t the best for my narrower feet. Oofus are very soft, squishy even. Mine also have what I would call a rocker type sole. I thought I would mention that.

My very favorite thongs are Birkenstock Gizeh. Once you break them in, they mold to my feet and are so supportive and comfortable. But they aren’t for everyone and they take a while to break in. And they aren’t to wear if you want your shoes to get wet.

Agreed with the cute skirt - if someone ordered let me know how it fits. It only has S, M, L but no number sizes. I am worried even size S will be too big for me. And doesn’t look like it has elastic band to hold it up

@Nhatrang the skirt is a little on the small size, but it has some stretch in it. I got a Medium but would normally have reached for a small in skirts. This boutique is more geared towards younger women and I find often that those clothing lines are not as “vanity sized” as other places

@MomofWildChild I WFH but I often have to run to the post office or stop by a school so I prefer to wear something I can go out in. There are definitely days that I can do shorts all day but I like to have options!

A few posts ago I asked for bra recommendations for a dress that had a cut out in the back. I ended up getting this one - and it works! I’m not small on top - 38C and it works for me. I wish the straps were adjustable - an always problem for me - that would help it to provide a little more support. But the dress is more fitted on top and if I leave the removable cups IN this works great and is very comfortable.

Inexpensive so I bought in the color of the dress - basically a mustard yellow - and I’ll just put it right on the hanger for that dress so it’s ready to wear. I have no idea why it says “nursing” in the title - I don’t see that in the description and I don’t know why it would be nursing bra! I might also get a nude one to wear with a couple other dresses I have that are open and criss crossed on back.

I think they seller stuck every possible keyword in the description to maximize the chances someone will hit the product in their search!

“Low Back Comfort Seamless Wire Free Nursing Soft Feel Racerback V Neck Cami Everyday Bra for Women“

@abasket, how did you find it fit? Does it provide any support? I’m a DD and it says it fits up to a D so I’m doubtful but that would definitely have a place in my wardrobe.

@collage1 I always have a problem with bra straps - I must have short shoulders or something! I always need to make them as short as possible - but these are not adjustable - if they were I think they would provide MORE support.

I felt like I had coverage - I’m a 38C without issue. As I mentioned the dress I bought it for is more fitted at the chest and lined so that all together makes me feel supportive.

It’s basically a more substantial bralet with cups that give it more support and shape. I would not wear it with a tshirt - but my main purpose was finding a bra to work with a specific dress - and not wanting to spend a lot of $$ AND wanting something that I could order easily since I"m not going in stores.

I would be unsure of a DD working with this bra because of the reasons above. Also I think when you don’t have the usual bra strap around mid back (as opposed to lower back) you lose support.

I like that bra linked abasket. It says “fits band size 32 to 38 for cups from B to D”. I’m a 36A … any recommendations for something similar, on a smaller scale?

Thank you, @abasket

Had to make some returns at Costco, so ended up buying a skort (firmer and thicker knit material than prior versions I had seen there S C & Co @ $9.99 plus some sandals @$11.99. It has “tummy control” but is a size bigger than my normal (since that was all they had), so it’s very loose and comfy.

This is the skort @$9.97. Wish they had other prints — so comfortable. Since I’m not as leggy as the model, it hits slightly above my kneecaps, rather than mid thigh.

I’ve seen that skort at Costco. It was stiffer than I like. Also slimmer than I like - I prefer the ones that allow me to be more active in them. But still a good buy.

Are you shorter @HImom? No way that would hit above my knee caps!

My fancy heels arrived and fit me! Just in time for my upcoming birthday. Have not had a chance to wear them yet… too dang cold. Barely 60 degrees!

I’m 5’6”. My legs aren’t exceptionally long nor short. The skirt is 16” per the label.

@orangepurple — thanks for the suggestion. I will be trying these

I found them on Amazon for $30 and free delivery with prime.

Somehow, I have trouble paying a lot for thongs/flip flops. I consider them consumables that need to be replaced annually so prefer not to pay too much. D bought the same ones with black & white strap. They seem very comfy.

Threw Neiman a bone by ordering a dress…

Had it in my basket for a while. It is now on sale.

Oh. I really like that dress. And from the hive - thanks for supporting the economy

It’s fun to look at dress links. I realize though that sometimes I don’t want the dress as much as I just want to look like the model in the dress
