Dressing Young (Part 1)

Wow, toneranger, that belongs on the “Good buy of the day” thread!
!

I like to wear a two piece, specifically a regular bikini style top but with a bottom that rises a little closer to my belly button. It’s really hard to find! I like to swim and don’t like the wet material against my stomach, so no tankinis or one pieces for me. But having given birth to two lovely children many years ago, I don’t really want to bear my entire belly. I’m sure I don’t have to elaborate. I’ve tried having a more “European” attitude towards , but I’m still self conscious. sigh…

mousegray, check Tommy Bahama swimwear collection, may be you can find some higher-rise bottoms that fit you well, like these:

I love this brand, but it so darn expensive! Whenever it goes on sale, I’m usually the last one to learn and can’t get anything in my size :(

EK - Freya and Fantasie make fabulous D cup suits. Freya Supernova suit has a higher rise bottoms as well.

I like Title Nine sportswear alot, and if this one lives up to its name, I’m in luck:

Thanks, BB, but alas, they are sold out in that Tommy Bahama in the color of my choice. That’s exactly what I’m looking for too. The Title Nine looks promising though–just ordered the “boy shorts”. Thanks, husky! (I’m going to the Caribbean next month on vacation.)

I like title nine, used to wear their frog compression bra before the breast reduction.
My oldest daughter used to wear two of them when she would ride (horses )
Planning a hawaiian vacation at some point if we can get every ones schedules aligned( and long enough for my exercise routine to make me cpnfident enough to bare arms in public again) see if i can just bring some nylon, a sarong and flip flops ( and a big hat)
i also like atheleta althougj i have never ordered anything.

I just received a dress and a swimsuit from Athleta. I haven’t tried them on yet; I’ll let you know!

fits well, a bit lower in front than I’d like; there is a bit of metallic in the print that I didn’t pick up on in the photo.Good length and good coverage.

it is lower than I like, but the top of the skirt is covered by the tankini. I don’t need extra rolls of fabric there…jury is out. I may get the boy shorts from Title Nine.

I got the black and white. Very nice! Good quality, soft fabric will feel terrific in the summer. A bit of upper arm coverage, which I appreciate. Nice, body conscious style. True to size.

A message to everyone in this thread: DO NOT WEAR UGG BOOTS OR ANYTHING SIMILAR TO THEM. THEY ARE UGG-LY AND LOOK GOOD ON NO ONE.

sorry! I’ve had my uggs for 15 years. I didn’t buy them for their looks, and in certain weather conditions they cannot be beat.

You can focus on my wit and winning smile instead (referencing the high heel thread).

My Ds wear them and look adorable.

There is a grandma who brings her granddaughter to one of my D’s ECs. She has thin gray hair down to her knees (!), has 1985 era glasses, wears no make up, etc. I always figured she was in her early 60s. My D found out yesterday that she is 44!!! If anyone ever needed a makeover, it’s her. Advice to the world: Don’t let your hair grow to your knees, especially if it is gray and thin!

I happen to think that a good haircut and color can take 20 years off your age.

missypie, yes!!! That’s exactly what I thought when I decided to part with my long hair when I was in mid-thirties, and after the haircut I instantly looked at least 5 years younger! Unless you are a Harley biker, please get a haircut.

And if you wear specs, please change your frames at least every decade! I think glasses and hair make the most impact on how young (old) we look. Oh that and don’t wear those ‘mom’ jeans! As for the Uggs, I say if you like 'em, go for it.

Just discovered few days ago that they still make women’s pants much less comfy than juniors. I just buy whatever on sale. Why women’s have diff. cut beats me. I just bought 4 pairs in women’s. They all too wide in hips, waist band is too high and cuts into stomach when you sit down. They think that women have smaller stomachs than juniors? No logic. I like the way they look, but they are very uncomfortable. I will wear them anyway. But I love the way juniors feel so comfortable and look great too!

I agree that a good haircut and appropriate color go a long way. I’ll add that hair doesn’t have to be super short - shoulder length can look good.

And, please ladies, stop bleaching your hair that white-out shade of blonde - what is it? L’Oreal 10-1/2 ash blonde? It makes almost everyone look washed out. Lowlights and highlights, as well as warmer tones look more natural.

But no bright yellow, either. If you look around at young girls, no one has a natural shade of bright yellow.

No, no, no. You will wear them a few times and then find yourself avoiding them everytime you have to decide what to wear. Finally, after a year or two or three, you’ll get rid of them and you’ll feel guilty about it.

IMHO, one should only buy what one likes, what one looks good in, and what one feels good in!

I wish I could pull off wearing a tankini. I am jealous!
