Dressing Young (Part 1)

I got an email about the new Rothy bags — Overnighter & Weekender.

Out of my budget, but I like!

If it wasn’t for work, I would say I carry my fanny pack more often than my purse!

Debating whether to start a new thread for this or not…I’ll start it here and see how the response is…

I think this has been probably discussed before but now that fall is upon us, what are your favorite joggers and where have you found them? I’d like to find a pair that I can get away with wearing to work (business casual or a little less) but that don’t look like sweatpants.

A couple of joggers I like, unfortunately none are cheap. I found the cheap joggers, look cheap

One is the align joggers from lululemon. I bought a pair on sale but they are REALLY nice

The Brooklyn textured joggers from Athleta.

And the farallon joggers also from Athleta. They are a twill fabric and I found them very flattering.

These are joggers that a blogger swore were align dupes https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B082ZW469J/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

They are not and gave me a camel toe

I think 2 years ago I bought a pair of slim joggers from Victoria secret. They are fine wear around the house but did not hold up well.

^^^^ LOL I literally saw an article talking about those exact joggers on Amazon recently! Has anyone tried them? Are you saying you did try them @deb922 ? They gave you a WHAT??

They do largely check off most of my requirements.

I am cracking up that @abasket isn’t familiar with the term “camel toe.” It is definitely to be avoided!

I did order them. I also unfortunately for me ordered the lululemon aligns shortly after. HUGE difference to me as far as fit and fabric. I am happy to wear these around the house but that’s all. Definitely did not feel that they are going out of the house pants.

You’re on your own with the definition of camel toe ?

OMG I have never heard that and don’t think I’ve experienced it since 6th grade when I was a little chubby!

LOL on camel toe. I second the Align joggers and the Athleta ones @deb922 mentioned, but I’m not sure either would work for an office setting. Definitely good for work from home. The Athleta ones are a substantial material, and could work.

I agree that I like dresses that go with sneakers and casual shoes like Allbirds. Sounds like a bunch of us have the same tastes!

I treated myself to some really nice leather goods with the intials LV- a large tote and a smaller handbag right at the beginning of 2020, and they have barely left the house!

Sadly yes, I own all of the joggers that I referenced

These are not joggers https://athleta.gap.com/browse/product.do?pid=531089002&cid=50000&pcid=50000&vid=1&nav=meganav%3Asale%3ACATEGORIES%3ABottoms&grid=pds_56_175_1&cpos=82&cexp=1501&kcid=CategoryIDs%3D50000&ctype=Listing&cpid=res20091512475039782689437#pdp-page-content

But they are actually very dressy looking. Would definitely be work appropriate. I ordered a pair when Athleta had their secret sale, I paid $30 or $35, I can’t remember which. I like them, but am not sure what to wear them with. I’d return them but it seems silly to return $30 pants

I recently found some joggers that are a bit dressier than the casual ones I wear around the house. I’m not sure if it is work appropriate but I wear them on the rare occasions we go somewhere.

These links aren’t exactly for the ones I bought but close enough, I think.

Another great find, a light cotton, tropical print from Aerie. This kind of looks like cotton, palazzo pants but only cuffed at the ankle. So comfortable. Unfortunately, I can’t find them online anymore to link here.

@abasket i recently bought the Align jogger from Lululemon. I love them and the material feels so soft. I wouldn’t think they are really something I’d wear to the office.

My D wears Athleta Brooklyn ankle to the office. My other D wears a jogger from Athleta to work, I’ll have to ask what style they are.
I have a pair of these in navy https://www.gap.com/browse/product.do?pid=566571002&cid=1011761&pcid=1011761&vid=1&grid=pds_35_84_1&cpos=37&cexp=1567&kcid=CategoryIDs%3D1011761&ctype=Listing&cpid=res2009151581040975209810#pdp-page-content depending on your office they might work.
Also check out Nordstrom Zella brand. They might have something. My D got a nice pair of joggers at Nordstrom rack that she wears to work. She dresses pretty casual even though she works in a law office.

@Midwest67 just looked at those Rothy bags. I like but agree pretty $$$$.

I just can’t get into the joggers trend. Once it gets cooler (not cold, just cooler) I don’t like my ankles uncovered. I LOVE bootcut yoga pants and I wish they would come back in! Luckily I have held on to my old Athleta ones and can wear them now for WFH.

I think a summer jogger in linen or something light would be good, if I could find them long enough.

@surfcity , I don’t look good in joggers either and need my ankles covered. Looking forward to the slight book cut making a fashion appearance again, too.

Okay so I need to replace the ancient old shoes I keep by the back door to slip on to get the mail or take the dog out etc.

These clogs are literally called “Backdoorshoes” but the plain blue is sold out. It seems like exactly what I need however they only have (IMHO) hideous prints, no solids. I am sure the prints are meant to be fun or charming, but I am thinking I really don’t want to call attention to these shoes if I run into a neighbor while out picking up the paper or something!

Can anyone recommend something similar?

@surfcity

What kinds of weather challenges will these clogs/shoes be facing?

I love my Sloggers, but they do tend to come in lots of patterns and few solids. They are easy to slip on to follow the dog outside, and they are waterproof. The clog style comes in solid colors.

@surfcity i kinda like those clogs.

I had these Merrill clogs. They were the most comfortable shoes ever. Not the prettiest but boy I loved them. I left them in a hotel and I just can’t make myself buy another pair. But I still think about them lol

I like the Merrell clogs linked above. I wear something like that when I go outside for quick errands. And I kind of like the prints available in the Backdoorshoe brand.

Crocs are what I see a lot of women in my neighborhood wear when they’re out walking the dog. They are colorful but somehow don’t appeal much to me.

Would these work for you? A few color choices.

Or these. Pricier.
