missypie, I’m one of those types that needs a heavy-duty kevlar-lined bra not because I’m extremely large-chested, but because I absolutely can’t stand any bounce! My favorite brand is appropriately called Shock Absorber - LOL! Marie Jo makes a fabulous sports bra (medium inpact) that is NOT uniboob - search for Marie Jo Action Arrow on herroom dot com.

I like the idea of a not-clear purse organizer…no need to expose my pills, tampons and bandaids to anyone.

And yes, with two daughters, we seem to just acquire make up bags. I bet that if I scoured the house I could come up with 10+.

My H calls my makeup bag the “nuclear bag” because I have everything in there:
chapstick, lipstick, advil, claritin, mints, eyeglass cloth, tampons, mini-pad, comb, mirror, band-aids, spoon, tissues, hand cream, sunscreen, all in miniature sizes… I’m forgetting something important, I’m sure.

What do you have in your makeup bag?

I try to keep some kind of cough drop in my makeup bag in case I have a coughing fit, as well as most of the items already listed.

Barnes and Noble carries a nice set of flat, closely-woven mesh organizing bags that would be perfect for organizing items for quick purse changes. There are three: larger size, middle, and small. I think the larger one could hold all the bigger purse stuff, the middle one for makeup, and the small one for change. I have given this set several times as a gift, and everyone has loved it. They are really great for travel. The bags are very lightweight and have good zippers. About $13 for the set.

What I have in my makeup bag? Anything but makeup (since I do not wear it): sanitizer wipes, Neosporin, band-aids, Burt’s Bees chapstick, gum, floss. The other items in my purse are: sunglasses, checkbook, flashlight, wallet, keys, iPhone, pens, USB drives. Sometimes I manage to stuff a research paper or two in it for reading on the bus.

I think my purse is the size of most makeup bags. I used to be able to put my calendar in it, but my BFF gave me a new one for Christmas that doesn’t hold the calendar. I’ve been using the new bag now for a few weeks and am not sure I will continue since I REALLY prefer having the calendar with the purse. I keep the regular stuff–rescue inhaler, keys & more keys, business cards, cards others have given me, wallet, and Rx sunglasses. USED to also carry medicine in case anyone else needed it (finally stopped carrying it for the kids who have been away at college for some time now), Epi-pen (have never used it & didn’t refill it since it last expired but need to do it), reading glasses (tho I no longer need them since I stopped wearing contacts). When I travel, I NEED lotion & chapped stick, since everything dries up when not in our high HI humidity.

re: dri fits: I am looking at them right now on line. I see 5 styles. Some are cotton, some are french terry, some are poly. Which are the pants that are attracting such a following?

Does anyone think that buying new/cute workout clothes has actually made them work out more/longer? When I first joined the gym I bought some cute enough tops and pants, now I never wear them…just sweats and whatever t-shirt. I just really hate to go to the gym…I can’t get over it. Scores of people engaging in utterly unnatural acts - like hamsters on a wheel - because our lives are more sedentary than evolution meant them to be. It would be so nice if I could tend a huge garden, or hike in the mountains (or even the hills). I just can’t get past how unnatural the whole work-out/gym business is.

canamadance: try Title Nine for sports bras. [Bounce - Title Nine](Sports Bras: High Impact & Workout | Title Nine)

They have a system to describe bounce control, they discuss the uniboob problem, and have some that “encapsulate” each breast separately.

Target also carries the mesh type bags bookiemom spoke of above - 3 in a pack - there are in the office supplies area.

Can someone post a link w/ a picture to the type of Nike Dri-Fit pants everyone seems so gaga about??? I need a visual. :)

mafool -

Here’s the link to the Nike pant:

[NikeStore. Shop the Official Nike Store for Shoes, Clothing & Gear](<a href=“Nike. Just Do It. Nike.com”>Nike. Just Do It. Nike.com)

They are the low-rise women’s workout pants STYLE # / COLOR # 249312-060

I’m 5’7" and wear a 6-8 pant and a medium fits me perfectly.

Thanks for the link! Do they come in a capri style as well? I cannot exercise in long pants…

They do come in a capri length. There are several styles of Nike pants, but this particular pant is distinguished by the Nike logo on the waistband - most of the other styles have the logo below the waistband, on the hip. The Nordstrom near me carries them, but I did not see them on the Nordstrom website. The Nike website that I linked has a very limited supply - only anthracite and size medium and up. I have seen them at various sporting goods stores - Dick’s, to name one; but Nordstrom always has the best selection of sizes, colors and pant lengths. I know there are many LuLulemon fans here, but I think these pants fit better and they are more flattering - on me anyway, perhaps because I seem to be in between sizes in Lulu’s.

What the heck kind of colour is ‘anthracite’? They can’t just say black or grey? We have sporting goods stores called Sportchek up here, I will look there. Maybe a Nike outlet somewhere around here as well.

Great site for bras, will look into that when I can track down a measuring tape and there’s nobody around looking at me funny.

As to trying to look half-decent while working out, I couldn’t agree more, during my gym days I was doing well just to be there. Now however, I’m embarking on a new fitness journey; I am attempting to learn dance so I’m experiencing my first ever ballet and
modern classes, as well as a fusion (yoga and Pilates) class and a dance fit one as well. So while looking halfway decent is certainly NOT helping my technique as such at least I feel like one of the crowd with their yoga pants et al. Sigh…I know…how shallow…

Hey, I could be asking for ballet tight advice or where could I buy a little dance skirt?

“So while looking halfway decent is certainly NOT helping my technique as such at least I feel like one of the crowd with their yoga pants et al. Sigh…I know…how shallow…”

Not shallow at all! Why did I spend my time and money looking for decent running clothes while I could have used my ratty cotton tees and old nylon pants? Because the appropriate athletic attire puts me in the right “zone” - it signals to my brain that I’m going out to run, not pull weeds, and my body follows my brain! Additionally, I do think that having the right pants will help your technique as well since you will be concentrating on the dance and not on fixing wedgies or pulling you pants up. :)

Also check Zappos for sports bras - their 365-day/free shipping return policy is great!

Boy, I’ve had those days on the treadmill, where all I can think of is “howdoIfixthiswedgie?howdoIfixthiswedgie?howdoIfixthiswedgie?”

YES, I feel all righteous and validated now! Bring on those downward dogs and tendues!

Oh and just wanted to say that Sephora has big markdowns on cosmetic bags and such under SALE on their website almost all the time. Really cute OR elegant matching sets.

The main advantage of the Nike pant, because I don’t really care how I look working out, is that I can stop at the grocery store on the way home and run into someone I haven’t seen in years and not think later in the car that they thought, “OMG, she looks like heck - poor thing; I hope she’s okay.”

^^but then she would see your awesome new handbag and know you are fine:)
