BTW, what color shoes do I wear with my “Galaxy Blue” Tadashi dress? (and what style?)

silver shoes, I think. (then again, what is “galaxy” blue?) I am a fan of D’orsay style shoes with peep toes. They are more comfortable than something strappier, but still feel open.

And, for those who
- can wear size XS or S
- like purple:

Yes, that’s my dress in purple; Galaxy Blue is an intense blue (not navy; where do they get these names?).

Thanks, I was thinking of peep toed shoes; shall see what I can find.

I trid to post this selection, but it didn’t work.

You can go to Endless.com
=>womens shoes
=>pumps
then select:
d’orsay
silver

ands see if you like what shows up!

I would wear a buttery color shoe with the dress - a similar shade to the one the model is wearing. It will make your legs look great - a nude shoe really elongates the leg. I think silver will compete with the colors in the dress.

The snakeskin is hugely pricey, but it would look great with that dress.

Gourmetmom,

I love the first link to the Manolo “clear-strap D’orsay”. Unfortunately, the heel would have me tottering around like a fool. And also I could not afford them. But they are so beautiful!

I used the Nivea Sun Kissed Beautiful Legs in the fair to medium skin for several days. I am fair skinned with freckles. I like that it doesn’t smell like the Jergen’s. It applies easily and dries quickly. The color is good. I found one problem for me. I have several seborrheic keratosis on my legs. It makes them darker. I guess a solution would be to apply it more carefully and try to avoid getting any lotion on them.

Thanks for the tips on shoes – I’ll take the dress with me and see what colors seem like they would work.

It would take a lot of looking but it would be so cool if you could find shoes in the same galaxy blue. Or maybe really tacky?

Can’t figure out if I’d look kind of like an alien coming in for a landing …

There’s a model wearing the dress with black strappy sandals. I found another model wearing what I think is the “electric blue” version of this with bone colored shoes …

Apparently one of the top tips for dressing young is that you’re not supposed to match. That’s the hardest rule for me to follow as I’m quite a matchy-matchy person.

Matchy matchy looks very dated. I know that old habits are hard to break.

I have never been a matchy person so I’d feel odd wearing blue shoes (I’ve never worn blue shoes in my life anyway) … Left to my own devices, I’d default to black (in everything I wear). But not sure that’s the best color here…

Puzzled, me too! My girls will point out if I match too much, it is tough to learn a new subconscious clothing instinct…how do you not match but not clash?

Gourmetmom - I love how the neutral colored shoes elongate the leg. I first noticed how wonderful ice skaters looked when they started to wear beige skates - as if they needed anything else to make them look fabulous.

I always love your links. They may be out of my budget, but I believe that you should look at the best so that you have a better eye for fashion.

somemom - Stacey and Clinton say your outfit and accessories should “go” rather than match.

I still remember shopping with my grandmother for my Easter outfit which always included a dress, shoes, a little purse and even a hat - all matching!

There is a picture of my mom on Easter - I bet it was about 1964 - she had on pink patent pointy toe spike heeled pumps with a matching pink patent bag…so stylin’ - and she was the preacher’s wife! I honestly don’t remember the dress; just the matching shoes and purse!

Funny coincidence - I was the preacher’s daughter!

I wore all bright yellow for easter one year ( I think I was 8). Yellow dress, yellow shoes, yellow hat, yellow purse, yellow coat…lol.

I DO have a question related to the “matchy matchy” topic. I have two black and white outfits I’m considering wearing to graduation. One is a swirly black and white print skirt worn with a slimming a cross over black top. One is the dress I bought from Bloomies (link earlier in this thread). So what about jewelry? Is it OK to add a splash of color? I have a beautiful bright turquoise necklace and matching earrings. Or should I go with my silver and black pendant (round and pretty big) with silver earrings?

Thanks, WNP!

Zetesis -

Don’t, under any circumstances, wear blue shoes with the electric blue dress. A black patent strappy sandal would look great. Although black shoes can be too heavy for summer, black patent looks just right.

My prior links were to match the multicolored dress - I don’t think that nude would work with this dress - the color is too brilliant.

Every woman should invest in a pair of strappy black patent leather sandals. They can be worn year round and they are incredibly versatile - they instantly dress up a pair of black pants. I have a couple of different pairs - one with silver hardware and a Manolo without any embellishment.
