I bought it mid summer and it was by far my favorite sandal to wear. I got a couple compliments on it from young gals, which always makes me feel good. They also got quite a few look overs by other women. I had wished it had also come in a heel when I wanted that look. Well, lo and behold I was in DSW today and ran when I saw these displayed. I can’t wait until summer!
Bumping back up! Is anyone out there still dressing young or did you all get “old” the last few months…
I myself have not done much shopping except for Athleta orders for exercise and athleisure wear. I need to look for a versatile pair of shoes for work. A cushy loafer type neutral color. I was looking at the Rothy’s and like but really don’t know that I want to pay the big bucks.
@abasket, I can refer you to Rothy’s and you’ll get $20 off. PM me if you are a new customer and I’ll send it in. I have a closet full of shoes and still find myself living in my Rothy’s day after day. I wash them a lot and they still look good. I also bought a pair of the new washable Birdies and they are comfortable too. Haven’t washed them to see how they do compared to Rothy’s.
I’ve found that Rothy’s are worth the price because of how well they wear. I’ve had some of mine 4 years and they still look as good as my new ones.
I just bought a pair of the washable Birdies. They are caught in transit somewhere and I am impatiently waiting for them to show up. Glad to hear a good review.
LOL … I look old and dreary, but mostly (especially on zoom calls) due to my hair.
For 40 years I had gotten my thin, fine hair permed a few times a year, the past few decades with bangs. Last perm was August 2019, last haircut in Oct … growing out the bangs. It looks bad, but it’s my way of having daily reminder of how covid impacts the health care workers MUCH more. I had my second vaccine a today, and I plan to call my hairdresser soon.
@Colardo_mom…I have had both shots and just have 5 days to go to be “free” and going to the hairdresser is one of the first things I am gonna do.
I still buy clothes, as well as shoes, though it may be silly as I have not been out much. Hope that changes.
Two weeks ago, when I had my kids for a Seder, I wore a “new” dress and shoes that I had bought at the very start of the pandemic, but had never had a chance to wear yet for 13 months! I’ll just say that my shoes are not getting much wear and tear!
Lol, @abasket ! Still trying to dress young, here!
I bought these jeans from WHBM and wore them with snake skin pumps and a silvery grey jacket and received lots of compliments! They really are nicer looking then the picture and the studs are more silver and stand out.
This was the first I had dressed up to go anywhere in 5 months.
So my washable Birdies finally showed up from the black hole they were in a holding pattern from.
I was pleasantly impressed by them. I’ve tried on dupe that I saw at TJ Maxx, they were stiff and scratchy. These are so soft and flexible. With a comfortable quilted insole.
They are definitely nicer than I thought they would be. A tiny bit tight in the toes but they are a point and I expected that. Not enough to worry about. I don’t think these will give me blisters and most flats give me blisters.
I don’t buy that many shoes anymore. I have lots of uncomfortable shoes already. I want to buy one nicer pair. So although they weren’t cheap, I don’t own any flats because I find them mostly uncomfortable.
Let us know how you like the Birdies after you wear them for a while, @deb922 , I’m getting tired of wearing sheepskin slippers or crocs indoors, sneakers or boots outside. I haven’t even worn my “good” boots much because I feel like no one really sees them as we’ve been so isolated. I’d love to get some colorful flats, maybe Birdies or Rothy’s, but I’m not always good with flats, narrow heel and wide ball of foot issues.
This is what I am going to look like the first time I have to put on something other than my scrubs, exercise outfits or jeans; I have forgotten how to get dressed anymore!
If anyone is looking for a Rothy’s “dupe” I bought a pair of these at DSW and as someone who can’t really do flats unless they have some support I really love these. I got the black which has a white trim edging. The inner sole can be removed and like Rothy’s they are made from recycled water bottles and can be washed in the washer. There are a few models - look up “Kelly and Katie” in the search bar on DSW.
@orangepurple, unfortunately after a lot of thought, I decided to return the birdies.
I have a thin foot. My usual flat size was tight in the toes but the body bowed out. So I really thought that they would be too big if I went up a size.
They were too expensive to have them not fit. If I had a normal width foot, I would have loved them.
This is very common for me and flats, which is why I don’t really have any.
That’s a bummer, @deb922 - the ones you posted are so cute. Out of my size or I might give them a try. For that price, they should fit you perfectly, IMO. My feet are so used to by Brooks running shoes and Allbirds. Looking forward to sandal season.
thanks for the update; too bad they didn’t fit, deb922. I haven’t had any success with flats in years (I think my feet have changed, but also I used to find some shoes that had a split width, with a narrow heel and wider forefoot!) but every once in a while I get the urge to try again. Back to the sneakers and crocs, I guess! Winter is easier because there are more options with boots.
Reading about Rothy’s made me go online to see what’s new - and I ordered yet another pair. At what point do I admit I have a problem?? I might as well move all the other shoes out of my closet because Rothy’s are what I want to wear everyday.
I love the look of Rothy’s and have several pairs but I don’t find them comfortable enough to wear for an extended period of time. My daughter can wear them and loves them. I love my Allbirds but I don’t wear the ballet flat style.
