Drew: ACCEPTED 2014

Absolutely felt the same way. Good luck, and I hope that you hear very soon!

My son’s notice in 2005 was dated 12/15, so we got it a few days later. Seems like so long now…many, many forms ago. : )
What I loved about my son’s scholarship (or Recognition Award) was there wasn’t any GPA attached to it, I remember reading it over and over. He did very well, so it wasn’t a worry, but it took the pressure off.

I got my big envelope yesterday and I was accepted to the Honors Program with a $23.5k scholarship so I’m really excited! I really love Drew and I have a feeling that if things don’t work out with the other schools I’m applying to I will end up there. The UN and the DC programs are perfect for my field of interest and they have a great study abroad opportunity in China so Drew basically has everything I want. My interview was fantastic and I think that it really got me excited about the school too. I’ve already been there twice but I’ll be going back a couple more times for visits / overnights to get a better feel for the campus.

yeah i used priority and sent my sat

Hi, all,

I haven’t received the big envelope yet, but my California Admissions Officer told me by e-mail yesterday that I have been admitted. Drew is my #1 choice.

During my interview, my interviewer told me that I had the option to change from Early Action to Early Decision, since I used the Priority Application. My family has had a low-income for my whole life, and my interviewer told me of Drew’s great financial aid, but it still might not be able to cover the tuition. I opted out of Early Decision because I was worried that I wouldn’t be able to scrounge up the money to go at the last minute, and my only back up would be community college.

Reading about these merit/dean scholarship things you guys mentioned… it takes a lot of stress off me. I’ve been searching left and right for scholarships because I want to go to Drew so badly! After reading your posts, I looked for scholarships/grants that Drew offered, found here:

[Grants & Scholarships| Drew University](http://www.drew.edu/depts/finaid.aspx?id=7327)

I am an ethnic minority (Asian American), I have an overwhelming financial need, and my GPA is above a 4.0. Maybe I WILL be able to go to Drew w/ the combination of these scholarships/grants + their financial aid package.

Thank you for giving me hope! (:

Shortie, Thanks and congratulations.

Vfong congratulations, and good luck with your aid!

Atawall, Congratulations!

Hi!
Yesterday I received my acceptance “envelope” to Drew University along with a scholarship. I’m pretty sure i’ll end up at Drew but I want to wait until I hear from the other schools I applied too before making a definite decision. I was really excited once I was accepted. I’ve been to the campus three times and its beautiful, the dorms are nice as well. I also hear that Drew has a very good theater program which I am highly interested in. The school is great!!

Congrats to everyone…my son knew about this time 4 years ago, that he was going to Drew. He liked it a lot and although we had 5 colleges left to hear from, he and I both doubted the FA would come near Drew’s offer. (only one came close) He will miss it this May, although ready to move on.

I will definitely go to Drew …if I get accepted. Just waiting to hear, applied priority & had everything in by 11/11. Then heard that they didn’t receive my test scores, but they actually rec’d both of them in Sept. I’m really anxious to hear. Today there was a big white envelope in the mail from Drew’s admissions office. Inside was a poster of the campus. Though the poster is nice, I was disappointed that there was no explanation or letter of why it was sent, especially when it looked like an acceptance package. Question, did your acceptances come in a big white 8 x 10 envelope, or was it in a small letter size. Hoping to hear by Christmas.

^^It was a big envelope.

Well we got the big envelope today with a generous Scholarship. My son was very happy. Drew is his #1 Choice. Now we have to compare!!!

GLENND14, Congratulations to you and your son!!

Is Drew still mailing notices, or does everyone think they are on break now? My friend’s D submitted a priority app in early November, but they haven’t heard anything. They checked the status and it says everything is in.

Beezmom, admissions told us that everyone would hear by Christmas if they used the priority application (I assume by a specified deadline). Perhaps your friend’s D should contact admissions tomorrow and inquire. Perhaps the applicant could request speaking directly with an admissions counselor.

Thanks - I’ll let me friend know. We were waiting by the mailbox last week (different school - music major), so I know how nerve-wracking it is. It certainly is nice to have it wrapped up before the holidays!

The big blue envelope came today! $18,000 dean’s award. This fall has had more excitement than I needed! My son applied priority with the extended deadline of 12/18. (whew! Was I grateful for that extension!) During the fall, he had two concussions playing soccer. One of them at Wheaton during a preview clinic with the Wheaton coach, kept him out of his HS varsity season for 2 weeks. Then he had another one playing HS varsity–out for the remainder of the season. So he deferred taking the SAT until December. His December SAT CR score is 60 points higher than the score he submitted for application to Drew. Just submitted the CSS profile. Any chance they’ll offer more money after they receive the CSS? I don’t mean to seem ungrateful, but in the end, the finances matter.

I know for my son, we got a grant after the CSS profile and any loan information. I think the scholarships are done first. When I asked if you could have more than one scholarship (at that time) they said, No.

From what I understand Grants which are need based along with loans etc, one does not hear till mid march. They do not let you know right away unless you go early decision. Most peple do not have the documents ready till there last year Tax’s are completed for accuracy.

Thanks, Deb and Glenn. I guess I can be patiently hopeful.

I am applying to Drew now, and am wondering if anyone can help me with the question “Which of your activities outside the classroom has influenced you the most? How?”
Are they looking for a short explanation or essay format?
