“Friday Night Lights” Shine on Drew

Question: What does the Hollywood blockbuster “The Family Stone” have in common with the hit HBO series “The Sopranos”? Answer: Drew University. Both the movie and television show filmed scenes on our Madison, NJ, campus. On Friday, March 6, Drew will return to the small screen in an episode of NBC’s high school football drama “Friday Night Lights.” The scene that was filmed on campus features Jason Street (played by Scott Porter) and Tim Riggins (played by Taylor Kitsch). In the episode, Drew doubles as a college in Pennsylvania in which Riggins has an interest. Nearly two dozen Drew theatre students served as extras.

Other movies and television shows on which Drew’s buildings and grounds have appeared include “So Fine” (1981), “Deconstructing Harry” (1997), “Spinning into Butter” (2006), “The Incredible Hulk” (2008) and “The Daily Show” (2001). Musician Alicia Keys also recently filmed a music video on campus featuring her hit single “Teenage Love Affair” (2008).
