Drew University Ranked #7 Theater School in Nation

Forbes ranked Drew in the top 10! Woohoo! Now I know these rankings means very little, but it's nice to see an obscure school like Drew getting some press.

a lesser known school with some great kids about to start!!! ;)

Good luck to your daughter Bisouu! I’m sure she’ll make the most of what they offer. (I hope you come back and let us know how it’s going.)

Thank you so much ladies! She is so excited to get this journey started.

@bisouu do you have a link to the list? Just curious! And congrats again to your D. So excited to start hearing about our actor’s experiences.

Bisouu, I’ll be in the Drew theater tomorrow and will see my son in the apprentice company production of Shakespeare Theatre of New Jersey. He has loved the town and campus, and I’m really looking forward to seeing it all–and to imagining you and your girl there!

<a href=“Best College Theater | The Princeton Review”>Best College Theater | The Princeton Review;

I’m unclear in the first post where Forbes is mentioned but then in post #6, the link is to the Princeton Review rankings.

For those following along, and to provide some perspective, the Princeton Review rankings are based on their surveys of 130,000 students attending these schools. Students are ranking theater on campus, not necessarily the theater degree programs.

I don’t mean this in any way to take away from the cool news about Drew, but just to explain these rankings to those following this thread.

whoops…I had the wrong company…It’s not Forbes…Yes the students ranked the program based on the ability to write, direct, create their own pieces, the number of productions and it’s proximity to NYC and internships. This is more than just saying they like the shows on campus. At least that is what I have read. I certainly could be wrong.

bisouu…thanks for clarifying and providing more specifics!

By the way, I didn’t mean they were saying they liked the shows on campus, but rather were ranking theater overall as an entity on campus, and not necessarily the academic theater program. The “Best College Theater” list is found under the category “Extracurricular Life.”

Bummer - Brown didn’t make the cut :frowning: Oh well.

I know these surveys don’t mean anything…it was just nice to see Drew mentioned.

^^Agreed. It is nice that the students think well of what’s happening with theater on campus, particularly the campus your own kid attends!

And every year there are newbies on this forum, and it is good to have info about schools that aren’t discussed a lot, the hidden gems!

Of course they mean something! This one means that students at Drew (and Wagner at the top as well as other schools in between and further down the list) really respect the theater at their colleges and have easy access to it to actually evaluate it. Bragging rights well deserved and who wouldn’t want to know that? Party on and bask in the glory!

Thank you @halflokum

Agree with halflokum and austinmt!!
