Reflection

Strengths: Essay, recs, test scores, ECs
Weaknesses: GPA
Why you think you were accepted/waitlisted/rejected: I think I was accepted because even though my unweighted GPA isn’t amazing, I went through a rigorous pre-IB/IB curriculum, which in part made up for it. My essay went into greater detail about my decline from sophomore year, so all and all, I think I covered my bases pretty well on that front. I also had more strengths than weaknesses, I thought.

Reflection

Strengths: Essays, recommendation letters, unweighted GPA
Weaknesses: Definitely SAT scores
Why you think you were accepted/waitlisted/rejected: Mainly for my standardized test scores. Admissions counselor would like to view my first semester grades
Where else were you accepted/waitlisted/rejected:

General Comments:
Throughout the college admissions process, I have learned that SAT do play a role in your application but it is only part of what makes up the entire profile. To all the people who did not score too well on standardized tests, do not get discouraged and work on strengthening all other parts of your application! My SAT score was definitely way below Drexel’s standard but with a strong essay, GPA, and recommendation letters, I believe that they’re the reason why I was deferred rather than just a flat out rejected.

I got in! Going for school of engineering, receiving $15,000 a year.

@muu2000 I think I’ve similar stats and similar circumstances: I am from Nepal with following stats and will be applying to Drexel RD (don’t know if any global scholar award will be available until then)

3.92/4 GPA (cambridge’s A-Levels with A* in Phy & chem, A in Computing & Maths)
1400 New SAT, 31 ACT
Activities not much in quantity, but qualitatively >fine in paper
Recommendations are my weakest point: GC-2/10 (writes like a child and uses the general one-page format; to his shame, he is a GP/English Language teacher but quality of writing is simply rubbish)

Teacher recommendations will be fine, I think.

Need full aid like you (income bracket < 10k/year); hoping global scholars program & need-based aid would help just like in your case @muu2000

Hope, I’ll get to join you awesome guys in the upcoming freshman class.

Reflection

Strengths: Definitely banked on my resume with my internships over the summers, also think my experiences from living and traveling the world I put into my essay made a difference.
Weaknesses: My GPA. It’s an 87.8 weighted. I put it in my essay stating I was passionate about my hobbies more so than the boring schoolwork.

Why you think you were accepted/waitlisted/rejected: I really tried to show my character in my application.

Where else were you accepted/waitlisted/rejected:
I’ve gotten 4 acceptances and no rejections so far and hope to keep it that way. I might update this as I go further xD

Reflection - I’m a parent posting on my daughter’s behalf (she is not on CC)

General Comments: She’s thrilled to be accepted and received a nice scholarship. She’s waiting to hear from a couple of other schools but Drexel is among her top choices and she plans to apply to Honors College.
