Drexel Biomedical Engineering help

Hi guys l. Im a senior in hs. I was accepted to Drexel University witha quite generous scholorship. I would like to major in Biomedical engineering. Can anyone suggest if drexel is a good school and what subcatagory I should do in biomedical engineering (like natotechnology etc.)
Thanks!

Drexel is a perfectly fine school for engineering: it is one of the [Association of Independent Technological Universities: AITU](http://theaitu.org) schools. As for a specialization, I suggest that you decide that after your first year when you know a bit more about the BME field. Your first year will involve taking courses which are common for all of the specializations.

Thanks for the great input! Do you think Biomedical engineering can good prospects in future. Salary and job wise.

Most people will state that you need at least a Masters to land a “good” job in BME. That is not to say that you won’t find employment with a Bachelors degree. Plus, going to Drexel you will have solid work experience from your coops.

For jobs with a Bachelor’s, a more traditional engineering major is probably better but the Biomedical Engineering field is still relatively new so perhaps that will change. I know that most of the students in our BME program at Illinois Institute of Technology either go to graduate school or medical school.

That is true. Now I was considering to change it to a Computer engineer degree and get a PhD later. Would their be a difference in either fields in terms of salary and job prospects?

Hello MrAdviceSeeker.
When did you complete your Drexel application and when did you hear from them?

And if I may ask, what are your stats?

I completed my app via VIP Oct 8th, and since this is my top choice, I’m very impatient to hearing from them.

Oh and I also applied Drexel Biomed BS/MS and how much merit grant did they give you?

@jiza95.
I got the acceptance email last week.
Stats: 90 GPA (I took only honors and AP classes). My HS is ranked one of the best in US.
I got a 2250 on SAT. (750 each section)
I had A LOT of ec’s
I got a $22K scholorship + 4k legacy scholorship.

Hbu?

When did you apply, was it EA?

94.88 UW 98 W
Honors classes
3 AP (only senior year)
I put down only 2-3 extracurriculars
27 Act

It’s really nerve-racking because Drexel is basically my dream college and a 3 week wait seems like 3 years hahahah.

I’m also afraid that I won’t get in or not enough scholarship. I used the net calculator on their website and it said I’ll get an estimated 20k merit grant, but I don’t know how accurate that is.

Yes to EA. Btw why did you choose BME major? Im considering changing mine to like coputer engineering or electronic.

Friends daughter is a senior bio engineering student at Drexel. They do have a way for good students to earn a masters during their 5 yr co op program.

She has had excellent well paying co ops and all have requested that she apply for full time jobs.
