Took tour of Drexel campus last week and was very impressed. What a great neighborhood, right across the street from U of Penn and on bus and subway lines. Neighborhood full of interesting little shops and cafes. The dorm rooms were good sized and had floor kitchens. The only bad thing facilites wise was the cafeteria. It is going to be remodeled this summer which should help but they really need major changes there. I'm not sure why it has the UGLY reputation. Maybe being across from U of Penn with all its old buildings and old money!

I really like the area also. :-)

Where Drexel is located is fine. However,if you go two blocks in any direction away from U Penn, you will see a very different neighborhood that you don't want to walk in.

Agreed that the neighborhood gets grittier as you move away from University but we walked the area bordering Drexel in all directions for more than 2 blocks and didn't find it outside our safety zone. Now, that doesn't mean I would want my D thinking she could walk to the amtrack station at midnight but for those students choosing urban schools, I think that the Drexel/UPenn area compares well with other urban university neighborhoods for both safety and charm.

Wow, I beg to differ completely. Drexel's campus is basically a dump. The only nice part is that it is near UPenn, which has a great campus. The city is ok, but there are several bad parts, including Drexel's campus. I was accepted and I got an AJ Drexel Scholarship, but will be attending Boston College instead. (I need grass and a campus)

different people, different tastes
some people actually prefer a college whose campus is, basically, the city. i liked drexel's facilities, and by all means, it was not a dump

campus with no grass? i have never heard ANYONE say drexel has a good campus... its.. what... 40 acres? so basic... a rich guy's house is that big? great... people take classes there... yepiiiiii!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! *note the sarcasm

by all means, it most definitely is a dump.

Anyone in their right mind would declare Drexel's campus as unsightly at best.

Yeah, this is just another case of parents hyping the schools their kids go to so they can feel better about/rationalize such a decision. Can't say I blame them, but it should be obvious that all the students who use CC need to take any parent recommendation with a major truckload of sodium chloride....

"drexel campus is great"... if they HAD a campus...
i dont call a building with some cement a campus

personally i dont mind the campus thingy. as long as it has some cafeteria, playfield, and provides wireless internet, then it will be enough
