drexel campus visit

i visited drexel today for the aj scholars thing (by the way my interview was horrible cuz i'm so shy, but anyways. lol). from my perspective, the campus was not as bad as people described. i grew up in a city most of my life and go to a poor public school so maybe i see things a different way. yes, it is mostly concrete and bricks, but there is some grass scattered around. i don't think it looked that horrid. some of the buidlings were old. the design studios were nice though. i'm not sure if i'd feel safe though. it's not the surrounding neighborhood. it's just that it's so open to the city. it's not really a campus.

socially wise, i'm not sure if drexel is the best place. since co-op and the quarter system takes most of the time. the academics seem good.

since drexel is described as a miserable place on here, i was surprised to see that most of the current students there seemed to like it and were very nice.
i guess you either love drexel or hate it.

I was there too today, and my interview went great. Sorry to hear yours didn't fare as well.

Anyway, the one student I was talking to said that most people say that Drexel is a miserable campus because they go in with the wrong expectations. If you're looking for a small, closed campus with grass and fields all over the place, then Drexel's not your place. It is what it is: a college in the heart of Philadelphia. You either love that and take advantage of what the city has to offer or hate it and go elsewhere.

They share a lot of the fields, libraries, and resources with UPenn, so it's not that bad at all. I'm actually planning to play some organized Ultimate Frisbee if I go, as I'm a huge fanatic right now in high school.
