Thought I’d throw in my deets for future Drexel students (I don’t know if I’m going here yet):
3.26 unweighted gpa
1410 new sat w/ essay
710 on math lvl 1 subject sat
700 on bio subject sat
school doesn’t do class rank
super high achieving public school (regular classes are like honors basically, bc we have no honors classes. Only AP)
lots of extracurricular activities
Major – global studies
Does getting an email telling me that the drexel admissions office thinks that i shld apply to the honors program ensure that i am going to get admitted
There is no secret formula to knowing your admission status. Different departments are responsible for different tasks, so you might be receiving many more of such emails but keep in mind that the departments sending them having nothing to do with the admissions committee.
Does anyone know if Drexel needs a mid year report showing 1st & 2nd quarter grades? My application shows complete, but I didn’t know if they still would be expecting that to be sent in?
@iambibliophile my D had a similar situation, but a different university. She kept getting emails encouraging her to apply, after she already applied. I contacted the school, and it turns out they had her listed twice. They apologized, and later that same day she received her acceptance. maybe contact Drexel and ask them why you are receiving recruitment mail when you already submitted your application…
We toured the school on Monday. I have a simple question about adding a minor. If a major requires course:
A, B,C,D, E,F and G and the student complete all of them…
and the minor requires A,B,C, X and Y Does a student need to simply complete courses X and Y to earn the minor?
@JerseyParents i believe that at some point prior to their senior year, they have to file some sort of application/declaration for their degree(s). Students should be meeting with their adviser to discuss their plan of courses to make sure they are on track to earn a degree. Not all courses are offered all terms, planning can be critical. My D is a sophomore and she says she plans a lot on her own, but needs approval for some courses (shes looking to do BS/MS which requires some extra approvals).
@JerseyParents If understand your question correctly, yes some class can count both towards the major and the minor. My D is a junior and is just finishing her minor. She chose to study aboard for the summer quarter and those credits counted toward her minor. Her experience with advising has been top notch. (better than her sister who attends a small LAC–go figure). The first year she sat with her advisor to select and register for classes. Summer of second year she was at home when her registration time came. Her and a few friend from her major mapped out their classes before hand and went on video chat while registering. The whole process took about 5 minutes. They do great job of moving kids thru the program. Educating them on the requirement and the progression of classes. She’s never been “locked out” of registering for class. (knock on wood)
