I want to be a doctor and I know they say undergrad isn't THAT important as long as you go to a decent school because grades are more important. My questions is- is drexel a decent college?- also I know it has a co-op program so will that look good on my resume seeing I did internships and what not. Would somewhere like UMass Amherst or SUNY Buffalo be better for undergrad before med school?

Also as a school how is drexel. What are the pros and cons?

If you can only answer one part of the question, that's ohkay.

This year I was considering Drexel AND SUNY Buffalo for undergrad and pre med also because I too want to go on to medical school. Buffalo had a good program for pre med students because classes and labs were conducted in the medical school building itself giving a lot of exposure. However I chose Drexel because it seemed to have a more cohesive program and “package,” if you will, for pre medical students.

With the co-op, the drEAMS program, and other supplementary programs for aspiring medical students, Drexel students seem to have the upper hand or the advantage when applying to medical school. Plus its just a really good environment to cultivate your interests especially being in the bustling city of philadelphia ( there are literally 7 hospitals that pre med students have to choose from for volunteering all in proximity). Whereas being in Buffalo kind of made me feel like I was in the middle of no where. Plus there is so much snow that you are stuck walking inside tunnels from building to building most of the time which made it seem somewhat depressing.

These schools are peers so the most important factor in your decision should be price since your major is pre-med. If you ever decide to change major, Drexel is pretty well rounded college.
