Drexel VIP application

Did anyone get that VIP application in their email/ mail? If we apply for regular decision, can i still apply and submit it in now even though it's still really early?

Yeah, I actually have 2 of them. One was handed to me during a campus visit and another was sent in the mail about a week later.

I actually just looked at it now and there doesn’t even seem to be a place to indicate whether you are applying ED or RD, so I’m not sure how you would go about telling them which you are applying to.

Actually, if it’s done online, it says if you’re applying RD or ED. But i’m confused like if we are applying RD… can we still hand it in early?

Oh, I have the paper one.

To be safe I would call/email them and ask.

My son did the VIP application last year on-line, regular decision. Drexel was the first college he heard from! You do realize, don’t you, that if you apply ED that you have to take whatever financial offer they give you, don’t you? Good luck!

My son got an invitation to a VIP application via email too. It says “no long essay.” Does that mean you don’t have to write any essay at all or maybe just a personal statement or submit a graded paper you wrote for school?

You have to write a 250 to 500 word essay on anything you want.

It’s basically the same as the common app.

My daughter just sent her app. Regular decision. Anyone know when decisions start to go out? Thanks.

I got mine in an email about a month ago. I applied RD because Penn State and the University of Maryland are on the top of my life, so I’m not ready to commit to a college yet.

I applied to drexel with the VIP app 2 years ago and I applied around this time and heard back within the first two weeks of November so I would predict within the next week or so.

pellfour - since Drexel is a school that renders decisions on a rolling admissions basis you can expect to receive a decision within 3-5 weeks of all the paperwork being received AND processed. Typically it’ll show up in the portal WAY before you receive the mail. Though sometimes the converse is possible.

^ If that’s true, hopefully I’ll have a decision by the end of November.

My application status says that my app is compete and currently under review.

For the 250 to 500 word essay on anything you want, can I use the same essay in my common app for my personal statement ? on the VIP application its says “You may write about why you are interested in your choice of major, or you may write on any subject you choose.”

@invader71 and JPuck98 Is it because you applied ED that you received such a quick decision? I applied RD. I got an email telling me that all of my documents were received and processed by Oct 5, but I haven’t heard anything yet. My app portal still says, “Thank you for your application. Your file is currently complete and under review. A decision has not yet been made regarding your admission status to Drexel University. If additional materials are required before an admission decision can be rendered, we will contact you.”

Should I call them? I didn’t want to be a pest, but now that I see that some people got their decisions pretty quickly, I’m thinking that I should call them.
