I've read more than my brain can process about each one and applied to both, but can't decide which to go to. I love Drexel's location and atmosphere but liked the academic aspect of Temple better. I'm going for communications and political science. I've heard "don't go to Drexel if you're not going for engineering" but I don't know how true this is. Temple has always been my first choice but now I don't know.

could anyone compare them in depth? I'll buy you a gift.

Both have strong points, both have weak points.

Drexel is very strong in engineering, business, medical related fields and media arts/design. Drexel’s sticker price is high, but they have excellent financial aid. Drexel has co-ops, which gives the student paid experience, and may give an edge to future employment.

Temple has many excellent schools, and is especially strong in law, medical related fields, business and the arts. They also have excellent sports teams, so school spirit tends to be high. Temple has a lower sticker price, particularly if you are a PA resident.

Both are located in convenient areas of the city, but both areas have an arguably “disreputable” reputation; Temple’s somewhat more than Drexel’s. This is not a problem in either school if you stay on or near campus and are aware of your surroundings. Both schools have vigilant security.

You should visit each school and spend some time there. See if you can sit in on classes. Either way, you will make a good decision. They are both excellent schools.

Oh, and Booots, there is one poster here that is vehemently pro-Temple, anti-Drexel. He will probably post here soon enough. Take that advice with a grain of salt. Remember there is no “right” or “wrong” in your decision.

personally, i like drexel better than temple. ive visited drexel and LOVED it, but i havent been to temple yet, nor will i probably visit it. i think both are good schools, but ive heard many people have been a bit more successful coming out of drexel than temple. that doesnt mean anything, but its just what ive heard. i think both schools are pretty comprable, but like the poster before me said, i would definitely try to visit both and see which one feels like the better fit. good luck!! :)

Drexel has a lot of great areas. In my opinion, political science isn’t one of Drexel’s strengths. I have not heard anything bad about the program, and I know many people in the program that like it, but when you’re talking political science, if there is a big financial difference, I myself would choose Temple over Drexel, and in some disciplines, Temple is much much more highly regarded. You might want to ask yourself what you’re planning to do with a political science degree, and if it’s possible what you’re looking for is a double major, a good minor, or if the co-op program will help you for what you’re trying to gain. For instance, Temple has a fantastic program in African American studies which can be easily combined with political science. In my opinion, if you’re using political science as pre-law, it’s much more meaningful to specialize in something at the undergraduate level that could become useful with a law degree.

pageturner and jersey, yep both are definitely good. I visited Temple in October and Drexel last weekend. I know either one will be good, it is just difficult cos they’re so comparable. :p

Zack, I’m going to have a minor in political science (I want to be a political journalist). thanks for answering so many questions, I’ve learned tons from your posts.

(hello, diontechristmas. I had adidas shoes once, they are pretty much in my top five of fave shoes I’ve owned.)
