You know, as a Canadian in my freshman year at an American university, I am constantly surprised by the ridiculous attitudes towards drinking people in your country seem to have. People around me seem to be either complete teetotallers who believe that drinking is some sort of disgusting sin or they're binge-drinkers like the OP. It's really strange.

I mean, I've been too drunk my fair share of times too, but that's mostly because I'm small, female, and love the taste of alcohol--so I sometimes drink a bit more than I mean to (I've only thrown up once though; it's sort of its own lesson). But amongst my circle of Toronto friends--almost all of whom enjoy drinking quite a bit--behaviour like the OP's is basically the epitome of immaturity. It's so 15 years old to think you're cooler just because you can drink a large volume of alcohol. I mean, when everyone around you drinks at least on occasion, it's no longer such a big deal or newsworthy or particularly exciting and risque.

And really, if you're drinking a case of Bud Light (shudder), you can't tell me that you like alcohol. You can barely taste the alcohol in that crap--or for that matter, anything else. (Seriously, find yourself a good microbrewery and drink real beer.) And surely you can't enjoy being so drunk that you throw up; that's not particularly fun. So really, you only enjoy drinking because you think it's "cool"--like one of those 13-year-olds who starts smoking because his older friends do. And that's really kind of sad. I hate to be condescending, but grow up and get over yourself.
