Is New Jersey's drinking age enforced by the eating clubs? Where I live, the drinking age is 19 de jure, 16 de facto, so I hope I will not be denied free beer until my junior year.

....you wont. Its college.

It may sound like a stupid question, but someone in one of the eating club threads said that drinking age limits are observed at the parties.

There is the official policy, and then the reality- underage students generally just get their cups with beer or punch from 21 year old friends at the same parties.

You do not need to worry about having a hard time acquiring beer when you're out on the Street. This I can promise you.

Wow, there's underage drinking at Princeton?... I thought the students there were above that level.

Are there drug addicts at Princeton as well?

^I would expect there would be drug addicts everywhere. Underage drinking is not that serious compared to some things, and it's not exactly a rare phenomenon.

Saugus, ur insanely naive. "above that level"? how arrogant and stupid. go get a life. got news for ya, harvard kids drink too along with yale and everywhere else.

good old Canada eh Mustafah?
apparently there's a special brand of free beer that everyone gives out on the Street, can't remember the name off the top of my head though

the beer is the Beast - Milwaukee's Best

Do people actually have to bother getting people who are 21 to 'give' them their beer parties? Are institutional authorities really that ubiquitous at parties and/or that harsh? This is something that would really bother me, if this is the case then I have it easier now in high school than I would in college, which is really sad IMO.

@Saugus: There are very few real drug addicts. Recreational drug users tend to congregate in Terrace (and Ivy, to a lesser extent).

@Mustafah: Lol well here it's 21 de jure and 18 de facto.

@HarvardHopeful: Normally that is not the case. At the moment, you would have to do that at Tower, but that's only because a bunch of their kids got sent to the hospital for alcohol poisoning during initiations and they might end up in court. Actually, a good rule of thumb is this: if you need to bother ppl over 21 at a certain club for beer, chances are that club has been having legal problems with regard to serving minors.

i remember reading about Tiger Inn gettting in trouble last year, are they a little laid back again or still strict?

and can we get a confirmation on the Milwaukee's Best?

I am 95% sure that Saugus was being sardonic. If he/she was NOT, then I feel deeply sorry for him/her, because he/she must've lived a painfully sheltered life.

@visionquest: I had great difficulty walking home after a recent night at TI and I'm not 21 yet, so no worries. Idk why you want a confirmation on Milwaukee's Best 'cuz it kinda sucks but yea. Natty Light is common too. Every now and then they'll serve good stuff like Magic Hat #9, Yuengling, or Guiness. And it's also pretty common for there to be a members-only mixed drink sitting in a cooler behind the bar.

Are all of the eating clubs big on parties, or is it mainly the bicker ones? From what I gather, the bicker clubs party harder.

@hookem168

No, I wasn't mocking his question, I was being dead serious. I don't live a sheltered life, I hear kids at my school talking about drugs and alcohol every day and saw a bag full of cocaine taken out yesterday.

But, generally at my school, the top students are far away from those substances and refrain from illegal activities. And only a few of the top students at my school will even get into good schools.

I'm not really all that surprised, but it still seems weird to me that there's still a problem like underage drinking at Princeton.

Oh my god! I'm really sad that there is drinking at the Ivies :( I really didn't know they did that type of stuff. I hope they don't smoke marawanna too because maybe I don't want to go to them anymore. I'm conflicted.

if you dont wanna go to the ivies becuase of alcohol where will you go to escape it?

that doesn't make sense people. Of course there is alcohol, its college, but you dont have to be a drinker to be part of the princeton social scene.

I feel like if I go, they will force me to drink or even smoke cokane or something crazy like that! I'm just nervous and I've been homeschooled. Maybe I should just stay homeschooled.
