the price depends on where you are, an eighth of an ounce in the bay area costs you around $40, expensive yes, but if you are economical, and use accessories that are efficient, say vaporizer, it's way cheaper in the long run.

I'd say the problem with pot nowadays, is that the drug war's created far better pot. Back in the 60's and 70's pot came either from mexico or canada. now of course, they've clamped down on mexican pot.

Mexican pot was comprised of the subtropical plant cannabis sativa, about 8% THC, and more of a.....peppy high, giggles, deep thinking, but high activity. Today, the drug war and increased border control has derailed this pot, which i prefer, but can never get ahold of, it's much cheaper ($50 for an ounce) lots of people call this stress, but i think it's good.

with the drug war, it's forced pot to be home grown (the department of agriculture ranks it as the nation's biggest cash crop, yielding $35 billion a year) and as a result, driven prices up, but demand stays the same, or has risen. At the same time, innovation in the field of hydroponics, hybridization, crossbreeding, and what not has increased the yield of pot and its potency. it's also a shorter version of sativa, cannabis indica, a plant origionating from afghanistan and the middle-east.

It's really the most American of industries now, because it's all about more innovation, yet without the capitalism of other drug businesses (tobacco cartels, coke, and what not). I'd say pot is way less harmful as a drug to almost everything, except maybe caffeine. The worst problem i've had is eating way too much in like 5 minutes, or driving really really slow.
