I went to this college party and even though i wasn't drinking, I was surrounded by the smell of bear and cigarettes for a long time? Is it going to affect me or destroy my brain cells?

no - on the other hand, second hand smoke hurts your respiratory system.

and brain cells can divide and thus new ones be created--discovered in 1998

Please tell me you're kidding, Sleepybunny

first of all the poster is naive, of coures your not going to have brain damage. Second of all Celebrian, brain cells dont just randomally divide. Often brain damage is permenant. There are regions of the brain (including but not limited to the dentate) that do undergo neurogenesis, the functionality of which in normal brains is still somewhat unclear but may be involved in clearing the system. Often, when brain damage patients make progress following trauma it is because of cortical reorganization and the plastic nature of neuronal connectivity. Just a tidbit...

It was just something I learned, it wasn't relevant, but I found it interesting so get off my back

i know you have heard 2nd hand smoking kills, but at the most it kills 2/3 people a year, not hundreds, youd have to be with a person 24/7 who smokes 2pks a day to die from 2nd hand, and how are you ever going to have fun in your life, and do you think the same poeple at the party are thinking what you are now, and it seems like you didnt have a good time at the party b/c your talking about health effects insted of new friends you met, just have a little fun man

Haha, thats an amazing sentence, justperfect.
