Driving from BHM to Tuscaloosa in snow?

First, let me thank everyone on this wonderful board for so much more information and advice than I even thought was possible.

Our plane is scheduled for a 2:30pm arrival in Birmingham tomorrow. We have car rental reservations and planned on driving immediately to UA. We visited last year so I know the road is quite a straight, flat freeway but does anyone have experience with Alabama snow and how they handle road conditions? I’m hoping for the best but the forecast just keeps looking worse. I may seem lame but 20 years in Southern California have really done me in.

Funny thing, one of the first things my D wanted in a school location was weather; once again, Bama delivers!!

James Spann, the Alabama weather forecaster/icon, is not expecting difficult driving conditions but admits it is tricky to forecast.

Glad it looks like your D will get to see some snow! My D wanted to go to school somewhere snowy initially, so I think she will enjoy tomorrow as well. Hope you all have a great trip!

Take a look at the hour by hour forecast, looks like snow may end around one and then temps rise to about forty degrees

Thanks for the replies. I’m sure it will be fine; I’m hoping for dry roads yet a beautifully snow-covered campus. I’m probably expecting too much!

i think your drive will be fine.
