Driving Test

Hey guys, I'm taking my driving test in about a week and a half. I'd say I'm a pretty good driver, but do you have any tips or advice from past experiences? Maybe some things to be careful about/watch out for.

So I'm a bit confused about limit lanes. My driving instructor told me it's a critical error if you stop past the white line at a stop sign. So let's say there's a stop sign, and you stop at the white line and you're about to make a right turn. But you can't see past parked cars and such to check if there are any incoming cars from the left. In this scenario, are you allowed to stop past the line? Or are you supposed to stop at the white line, then slowly inch forward to get a better view before you carefully make your right turn? I always do the second thing but I'm just a lil worried because the DMV I'm going to has a reputation for being extremely nitpicky and I just want to pass the first time around.

here they taught us to stop, then crawl forward, but I’m not sure what the rule is in your state.

Yeah, stop completely then crawl a bit.

My test was pathetically easy. I drove to a train station, did a back in, drove back. The written test was basically the same thing as the permit test.

Overemphasize everything. Stay put at the stop sign for at least 4 seconds, even if no one is there. Also overemphasize looking both ways at EVERY intersection, not just at stop signs. Oh and the only thing I lost even a point on was something I didn’t know: If you’re changing more than one lane at a time, you have to turn your blinker on then off then back on for the second lane. Stupid, because you’re doing it so fast no one outside of the car would even notice, but whatever.

Oh and idk about the area where you take your test, but here there’s several streets with one-ways. I practiced driving around the area in the days leading up to my test so I’d be familiar with these one-ways so they wouldn’t trick me when turning onto them.

How often do you think I need to check my mirrors and such? My friend told me he got a point off for every block he did not check his side view mirrors

i second the guy that told you to overemphasize everything.
you cant just look with your eyes, make sure your head turns as well so they know your being cautious.
check your mirrors OFTEN its part of traffic checks and everyone gets marked off for traffic checks

make yourself obvious, rotate youe head like a squrriel whenever stopped, and sometimes not as well.

If the test is open course, make sure to watch out for school buses and stop if they have their stop signs out. That’s how I failed the first time. I passed the second time, but now I freak out every time I see a school bus when I’m driving.
